I hated this book for the same reason I hated Fight Club. The author seems to be judgmental about other people's lifestyles if they don't comply with his own. All his techniques and tricks to a low-cost living work fine with him because he has loads and loads of time to spare in his hands, which is partially the reason why he claims he does not make much money. I am not bashing those who don't fancy extravaganza and prefer modesty in life, but I don't see why then materialism has to take the blame for every sin under the sun. I was expecting suggestions and experience that work more generally for everybody like switching off the light when you exit the room, using water more wisely, or shopping at Aldi more than Marks & Spencer etc, not making your own butter, or renting your own allotment, which really takes up a great deal of spare time and effort to do in reality if I'm honest. Overall the book is not very helpful to one who doesn't intend to lead a life of a hermit.

When I finished Demonglass the only thing I could think was "OMG it can't be over!". I just sat there staring at it like more pages would appear if I wanted it bad enough...too bad that isn't how it works! Sophie's dad finally shows up at Hex Hall and convinces her, along with Jenna and Cal, to spend the summer with him in England before she decides if she really wants to go through with the Removal. Once there she finds out there are other demons and her and her dad set out trying to find who has transformed the teens and why. Archer shows up and Sophie is still drawn to him and can't seem to stay away even though she knows they can't and shouldn't be together. There are some major revelations and some big secrets exposed in this book. Demonglass is the perfect blend of mystery, action, and romance and ends on a total cliffhanger!! I almost can't stand that the next book in the series won't be coming out til sometime in 2012! Definitely read this book!! readingisbreathing.blogspot.com

I really enjoyed reading this book and think the concept is ingenious, but I must add a disclaimer to anybody who would see that I loved it and want to read it: there are a couple of pretty graphic sex scenes in here. Don't say you weren't warned. :) Otherwise, enjoy!

This is one of the best autobiographies I've ever read by and about a great writer and filmmaker. If you haven't seen any of his films, I recommend them highly but this book will be just as entertaining if you have not seen them. A lot of boring people have written about Sturges life, perhaps more accurately (I don't know) but this is far better than anything they've come up with. Perhaps the most awful and funny thing in it is the ending: SPOILER ALERT- he dies as he's writing the final chapter and the book abruptly comes to an end. I hope to meet someone else who has read this book someday.
