This was sort of lovely and beautiful, though not particularly suspenseful or compelling. I think it almost would have worked better as a short story. I did enjoy it, though I agree w cassi that the epilogue was dumb. It was unnecessary too. Looking forward to discussing!

It's hard for me to rate this book. The subject is certainly interesting and it's well written, but somehow I found myself deeply disliking Paul and not much liking the Count of Lys either. I just could not really get into the story.

very similar to the percy jackson and the olympians series but with egyptian mythology instead. i enjoyed the plot and action, but i didn't get as into the characters as i did with percy.

** spoiler alert ** I loved loved LOVED the first book. This book seemed too peppered with story after story that did little to move THIS storyline along. Clever Kvothe has devolved into a whiny, brat who is easily side tracked by all the T&A around him.

Completely put things under a new light for me. Each chapter leaves you with either a "I can't believe I didn't see it there before!" or a "Oh NOW I get it!" face. It does a great job showing the audience a little bit of every religion.

The book has some great ideas but I felt that it takes things a little too far for the average person. It's still a very intersting read and gives some idea of what can be achieved especially if you are comfortable outsourcing pretty much everything humanly possible. So I'd say the book was definitely worth a look if you want to change your outlook on the 9-5 lifestyle but bear in mind that the suggestions can be a bit extreme in places...
