So I really thought I was going to get this job in Sandpoint, and one of the books I would need to teach right away was this. I thought I should get a head start on it. I've found myself quite enjoying it. It's funny how the writing of novels has changed over time. The narrator is constantly talking to the reader, even explaining historical events that pertain to the story. And the characters are constantly reminding each other of social conventions as if Dumas knew his novel would be read for decades to come and that society would change so much the reader would need to understand why they do some of the things they do. Although I could predect much of what would happen, and there were a lot of "guns in the wall" I truly enjoyed reading this. I wished I'd read it sooner, though probably would not have enjoyed it as much were I have been told to read it in high school. Great read!!

This was a great book. There were a couple of suggestions and concepts he came up with that didn't fit the bill for me, but it did bring to light why I've been struggling lately and that is worth A LOT. Im grateful for all the research that went into this book and for all of the men and woman who openly shared their stories.

The Battle School children have returned to earth and must adjust to life as children again. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), they are soon kidnapped by megalomaniac psychopath Achilles, who is bent on taking over the world and also (still) on destroying Bean. The book at times feels like a novelization of a game of Risk, but is saved from being boring by the presence of both familiar and new Battle School graduates, as well as Ender's brother, Peter. A satisfying bridge book between Ender's Shadow and Shadow Puppets.

I know I should find this darling, and I'm sure many will kvell over it. But all I could wonder is who is going to pick up after all Annie's adventures in her mom's office. Reminds me of parents who let their kids scatter books and toys all over my children's room--and leave them there. :(

Fantasy,Imagination...wow it's great.Takes you away from the goddmaned reality we all live in. By the way in this book you can find what has inspired some other successful authors. Some scenes in the Harry Potter series seem to have derived exactly from this book.

This series looks really fun and interesting. I really enjoyed this volume and thought that the characters were really good. The personality test at the end of the volume was pretty cute as well.

I'm 50/50 with Lindqvist. I loved Let The Right One In but couldn't finish Handling The Undead. When I downloaded Itsy Bitsy, I thought it was another novel but instead it is a rather brief short story. Perhaps Lindqvist should note that shorter is sometimes better for Itsy Bitsy is a taut and somewhat surreal horror tale that entertains and disturbs. It revived my faith in Lundqvist as a writer that can move you in bizarre ways. It is too short to give away anything except it involves a struggling paparazzi photographer. It's currently free for the Kindle, so give it a try. If you like horror you will not be disappointed.
