When the young readers in my acquaintance complain that there aren't more Harry Potter books to read, I like to suggest this series. I usually start the campaign with a few questions to get them interested. "What if kid wizards couldn't tell their families about their powers?" "What if they had to risk their lives in secret to keep the world safe?" I find the pre-teen and teen characters in this series to be much more engaging and realistic than the self-centered, clueless and common sense-lacking characters found in much juvenile fiction. I also fell that the way Ms. Duane portrays courage, friendship, trust and sacrifice in these books teaches a positive lesson to the young readers in an entertaining (and almost subliminal) way.

Once I picked this book up and began I had to put everything aside and complete it fast. The impending sense of doom was eating me up inside and stressing me out. Although at first I thought I liked the characters and the imagery was clear and intriguing, as the characters developed I liked them less and less. Their actions were a bit too unstable and unpredictable and I'm still not really sure what it was all really about. In some ways it reminded me of Haruki Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle which I loved. Only this felt more like the bastardised Hollywood version. I hate the way Hollywood scary movies use intensity to mask their lack of depth and to put it truthfully, they stress me out and make me feel a little ill. That this book made me react in the same way makes me think there was something missing, though I read it too fast with too little thought to be able to say what it was. I want to turn the page of a book because I'm loving how it moves forward, not because I have to know what is happening and am desperate to find out so I can relax again.

"All the Pretty Girls" was better than the average crime thriller. Great characters, good plot twists, unexpected endings. I liked Taylor Jackson and will definitely read more books in this series. This isn't usually my genre, but it kept me interested. Fairly quick read. I loved small details, like the idiocy of a muzak version of the Scorpions' "Rock You Like a Hurricane" on hold...also appreciated the characters' humanity, grappling with the tough job they do. Perfect beach book for the CSI set.

I was reading this book while sitting on the couch with my fiancee and laughed out loud at a passage. He looked at me and asked if I had just laughed out loud at a book. That explains the Stephanie Plum series perfectly. It will make you laugh out loud.

Balthazar sih niat bantu coz' dia juga mw cari info keberadaan adeknya yang luar biasa menyebalkan Charity yg menjadi buruan salib hitam juga dan lucas tau dimana spot2 yg sering charity kunjungi. sempat terjadi salah paham antara Lucas & Bianca, gara2 charity juga asal muasal penyebabnya. Lucas-Bianca putus, Bianca lg kalut apalagi ditambah dg pengakuan yg mengejutkan dr ortunya, bahwa klahiran bianca ada campur tangan dr roh gtu (scara vampir kan kga bs pny ank), bianca pun akan 'diambil' lagi pada usia cukup, jd kemungkinan besar Bianca tidak menjadi vampir melainkan hantu (nah lohh). gak sampe disitu aja masalah di stargazer, Charity (aya aya wae, neng charity, pembuat onar pisan) coba ngehasut & ngadu domba Evernight & Salib hitam 'yg lg adem ayem untuk sementara' alhasil salib hitam melakukan serangan fajar ke evrnight... smakin banyak rahasia, semakin tegang aj baca nih buku...
