Tersine Devrimler - Siyaset, Şiddet, Sanat Ve Hayalgücü Üzerine Denemeler-David Graeber TrendKitaplar Kütüphanesi

Author Truss brought us "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" and now brings us "Talk to the Hand.." Respect, courtesy, kindness, and consideration are discussed here. Current society all over the world is generally rude, impatient, lax, condescending, and disrespectful (I think we are all aware of this, but if we we are, then why is this problem still so prevalent?). My favorite lines include: - "...the individual personality wastes no time bolstering its defenses" - "... it's become fashionable never to look up to anyone, it has become nastily acceptable to look down." - "make the right noises and you get the reward." I come away from reading this book to think before speaking and be aware of how I come off. I agree with the author, "no problem" is not the nicest answer, nor proper answer to when someone says "thank you." "You're welcome" is. I think society (me included) needs to soften our language, intonation, and be aware if we come off as a jerk. And if we think about it and think that "yeah that totally sounded 'jerky'," then we need to tell that person, "I am sorry that I came off that way and what I meant to say was....." This shows deference and courtesy to the other person. A sincere apology does not make one inferior (although many people think this). Instead, a sincere sorry says you care about the other person and want to show them that you care so much, you admit you were wrong. All people need to read this!!!! (especially those in the service industry!!!!)

BOOK REVIEW EU IMMIGRATION AND ASYLUM LAW Commentary on EU Regulations and Directives Edited by Kay Hailbronner ISBN: 978-1-84946-075-0 Hart Publishing www.hartpub.co.uk A NEW COMMON LAW ON IMMIGRATION AND ASYLUM ACROSS EUROPE! An appreciation by Phillip Taylor MBE and Elizabeth Taylor of Richmond Green Chambers Can there ever be one legislative framework for immigration and asylum across the European Union – instead of the present situation in which each member state evolves and enforces its own? That’s the aim and a partial answer to this question… or at least a monumental effort in that direction which is provided by a recent publication from Hart Publishing and Verlag C.H. Beck who have published Kay Hailbronner’s excellent book. In our view, ‘EU Immigration and Asylum Law’ offers erudite commentary on EU Regulations and Directives pertaining to immigration and asylum law from a knowledgeable team of contributors. Based at the Centre for International and European Law on Immigration and Asylum at the University of Konstanz, Germany, the editor, Hailbronner, has compiled a formidable work of reference which examines both intensively and extensively the content of existing European legislation on asylum and immigration, with a view to identifying potential interpretation issues and their application. Inevitably, individual members of such a diverse team will reveal differing views on overlapping issues generated by this complex subject – but a diversity of opinion is generally a good thing. The overall objective here is to work painstakingly toward what the editor refers to as a ‘full(y) fledged harmonization’ which, it is to be hoped, will lead to a common European asylum and immigration policy. If such an object is ever achieved, it would replace the present uncertain scheme of things in which each European member state continues to evolve its own minimum standards, options and discretionary policies on asylum and immigration. The purpose of this heavyweight volume is to assist courts, administrative authorities and other relevant civil institutions across Europe -- including immigration tribunals – to enhance and augment their understanding of existing European legislation, much of which after all, incorporates many of the laws and practices already in place in individual European member states. Hart Publishing is to be commended for this important new title to its catalogue which brings a deeper, erudite understanding to EU asylum and immigration issues. This is a thorough and methodically laid out work of reference of over 1,500 pages, on an often complex and vexed subject area. A number of key pieces of European legislation are dealt with in detail, including directives on, for example, the qualification and status of refugees…asylum procedure...the admission of students…the admission of researchers… the return of third-country (non-European) nationals…and much more besides. ‘EU Immigration and Asylum Law’ would certainly be an ideal acquisition for the in-house libraries of any institutions or individuals dealing with immigration and asylum in the EU, from immigration departments and NGOs, to practicing lawyers, students and academics in this field. The general bibliography is itself an extremely useful research resource.

Kötülüğün Şeffaflığı - Jean Baudrillard TrendKitaplar Kütüphanesi

Journey to the Well by Dianne Wells Taylor is a good book. It is the first book that I finished on my kindle! I truly enjoyed both the book and the kindle. The book is a great fictional retelling of the Biblical story of the Samaritan woman at the well. At 13, Marah finds herself given in marriage to a man that she doesn't love, and as the years pass, circumstances force her to take multiple husbands. From before her first marriage, Marah dreamed of a man taking her hand, and the dream always left her with peace. Finally the day comes when she meets this man who is the source of peace. This book made me think about how women were treated during those times, and what this particular woman may have gone through. I learned more about the culture and practices of that time period. The characters are well-developed, and the emotions are real. I liked how Taylor spun the background of the story, and I loved the extra Biblical references added to the plot (the good Samaritan and the 10 lepers). After Jesus visited the well, the change in Marah and the rest of the town was extreme. That change influenced others to follow Jesus as well. Isn't this the way it should be!?! Our lives should be different because we have met/know Jesus. The change in us, should lead others to our Savior. This novel was a beautiful depiction of forgiveness, hope, and salvation. I have it on the kindle, and I actually own it in book form as well. I'll be sharing the book with family members, and I would recommend it to anyone!
