there are items and decorating ideas that I really liked while looking through this book, but, to be quite honest, I thought everything else was awful. I don't even know where to begin... 1. I felt like I almost suffocated in paisley print. really, it's too excessive. you might as well go to target and pick up every flowery and modern print available for pillows, bedspreads, furniture, and clothing. 2. the clothing designs and the prints are ATROCIOUS. seriously. there might have been one item that I liked, but even then I thought the print of the material to be ugly and tacky. I thought this style died when vera bradley was no longer relevant. 3. the photographs belong in vogue or some equally boring and superficial magazine. let me tell you why - because there's a photograph where, clearly seen, there's a straw-looking purse/bag where there are numerous baguettes and some of the baguettes are casually leaning against a wall. oh, PLEASE. because anyone would allow their bread to sit in a purse/bag thing, leaning against a wall. and who needs that much bread (there are a lot, maybe six or seven or more - I didn't count), unless you're entertaining a party? I like when things are at least moderately realistic and practical. I can see why a lot of women would like this. it definitely has the modern-mom-that-shops-at-target vibe who also picks up a lot of shit from flea markets and thrift stores because it's cool. all-in-all, this is definitely not for me, not my style. it makes me want to puke all over this woman's place. harsh? yes! I'm a jerk. no, no, wait - I'm just passionate.

I've probably read this book 15x. My husband says "What's up with the talking rabbits?" but it is so much more. It has loyalty, unlikely heroes, action, adventure, folktales and characters with a strong will to survive.

VERY predictable. If my memory serves me, I knew what had happened to Melinda by the second chapter. Her character didn't bother me too much, but it was a little over the top. The style is interesting enough, but it doesn't save the book. Worth reading on a road trip or something, but not a great book to really sit down and enjoy.

It was very Catholic in its approach to the story of Jesus. It was nice to see characters change due to their beliefs. I didn't like that it made the Apostles seem unintentional in the healings they did and they way they ran the church--almost as if they were surprised they had power and authority from God and were not led from God. The writing was old-fashioned and needed serious editing! Overall, not worth the time it took to finish the story. I am just glad I was able to finish!
