Enough good things can't be said about Gerald Durrell and his amazing (true) animal stories. Touching, clever, interesting, very witty and thoroughly compelling. I have seven of his books already, and my collection is steadily growing. Highly recommended.

So my mom called me and told me, "Lori, I just finished this book. It was really good, and you have to read it because I think it is based on Biddeford Pool." So I read it, loved it, and then immediately contacted my favorite foremost expert on all things BPL, who prompted responded via text, "it is about the pool, we know the guy who wrote it!" Moral: my mom is wicked smart.

I read this book at the beginning of the summer and I absolutely loved it. I was riveted in my seat. My mom hated me for two days, because all I did was gobble this book up between work and sleep. Dan Brown showed that he can be amazing, twice!

I've tried Kristin Hannah's books before and didn't really care for them, but I enjoyed this one. The characters were vivid and the plot was realistic. A great summer read.

I can't put a date read because I've read this one so many times! I would recommend this to anyone that is interested in: "civilization" or "child development" or "society's ills" or "man's inner goodness" or even "the struggle between good and evil" (no, really). Honestly folks, this one does a good job of demonstrating the phrase "We are always only one generation away from chaos." This is written in a very engaging style and could be enjoyed by readers on an adolescent or adult level.
