This book gave me a better insight of what it feels like to live abroad and going through obstacles that make you a better person. Jean writes very beautiful and easy to comprehend. I would definetely use this book for ESL students to improve their English as a second language skills and hopes to live their lifes to the fullest! Luv it!

I think I must have read a different book from everyone else... 5 stars... really?! not for me. I knew "who done it" early on, there was information overload, there was added plot too near the end (to help make more sense of it all) and I really don't care for books which seem to leave out the final chapter. I'm still wondering who done it (#2)

When I first began reading "Zombie" I was majorly put-off by the writing style. I think it took a bit of work to get into the feel of how the writing was portraying a broken, fast paced, line of thought and after I got into the swing of things, I began to understand and sense the character. An odd, dark, and twisted novel. This was the first of Joyce Carol Oates I have ever read, and I am going to now look into her other works. I was drawn by the fact that it was a psychological-game sort of novella--broken and tainted in dark passion and a sense of bewilderment that one does not expect most writers to take on. I did feel the ending left a bit to be desired. Very quick (like pulling off a band-aid) with not real conclusion or insinuation of epilogue thinking. Truely an odd and unique piece of work.

I couldn't even finish it. I hated it. HATED it!! I thought the idea was hysterical, but I found the execution clumsy. Ah, well. Perhaps zombies are better suited to Persuasion?

The Diary Of Anne Frank is one the most heart wrenching books I have ever read. You may have read facts and stories about the Hallocaust but reading it in someones real life point of view makes it all the more terrifying and sad. To imagine what it must have been like to have your family, your friends, your home, and all your belongings taken away from you because of someones racist ideas. Anne Frank died age 15 from Typhus Epidemic in the a concentration camp that was abandoned from the Nazis because of the disease spread. A week later the camp was searched and rescued by Brittish troops but it was to late. The only survior of the family was her father Otto Frank.

Entirely too cute. I love the story and Ella's character. I didn't read this when I was little and I'm surprised b/c this is definitely my kind of book. I highly recommend it.

I love this book. It was the first book I bought when my daughter was born. I'd read to her every night from it for years. The topsy turvy quaint writing style and stories are adorable. Plus I played Mopsy in my 2nd grade play. :D
