so this is her masterpiece apparently, and it was one of the last things i got around to reading by her. it makes sense it is--the best thing about colette is her vivid description of sensory experience and little daily luxuries, and such descriptions abound here and are very strong, even for her. also makes me understand why proust admired her--the best things he does with the sensual aspects of memory she does here. a truly pleasurable read.

I really like Jory Sherman's westerns, and this one is probably the best one I've read so far. The black hats here were horrible people who you wanted to see meet a violent end, and all of the good guys were very complex and interesting characters. And as usual, Sherman ends the book leaving you feeling unfullfilled with the outcome, which at first I thought was poor writing, but now think he is making a statement about the hollowness of finally getting your revenge.

I lurve this book! It is so perfectly silly and smart. I make everybody I know (and like) read it. Each time I read it, I cry and convulse with laughter. I bought the audio book but found that I like the way it sounds in my head better. Read it, I say unto you!

I read this mostly because I felt that I should (for historical purposes). I'm glad I did, but I doubt I would have made much a fuss about it if it weren't famous. I can see that it's very unlike most books, and I'm suspect that, if I had really given it more attention, I might have liked it better, but I couldn't take it seriously. I had to skim most of the poetry and stories within the story.

If you like the Werewolves from the Women of the Otherworld series I am not sure how you could not enjoy this book. The book is divided into three parts. The first deals with Malcom and how Jeremy comes to be. Then we hear Clay's back story - how he was bitten, became Jeremy's "son", how he interacts with the pact and finally Malcolm and Jeremy's battle for pack Alpha through Clay's POV. The last part is devoted to Jeremy, which gives us Jeremy's POV in his relationship with Jaime and introduces a part of his heritage this gives us some insight as to the symbols he always draws and we begin to see that Jeremy is really special. Overall I thought it was an easy read really funny at parts. It also gives a lot of insight to Clay both in terms of the issues that Elena has with Clay and Clay's devotion to Jeremy.
