4.5 stars Is this a GFY story? I wondered all through the book and even now I've finished reading it, I can't tell for sure. The book never say if he is attracted to other men or not (strange, I thought that would have been one of the first things to check for a confused guy), but we know "things" with women have been quite boring lately. The straight cop, tall, blond, handsome, built, and the gay PI, tall, dark, gorgeous and built too are a good match. The chemistry between them was amazing but what I liked most was their quick and easy friendship. I mean, you could tell they were just so happy hanging out together doing whatever friends do. I liked how the straight-to-gay process was described, all the unexpected lust and tenderness, then the painful realisation, all the panic and denial, then the tentative acceptance, and finally the peace. Another book that paints the S-T-G process quite well is The One That Got Away.

Some great character work, but le Carre seems to work at keeping it unexciting.

I highly recommend this book. Dan Savage is the syndicated gay columnist who writes some really funny advice columns. Here, he explores each of the "seven deadly sins" in one of there modern iterations. For example, for "Gluttony," he visits a Fat Admirer (FA) convention in Vegas. It's filled with big, big women, and the men that love them. For "Lust", he interviews a very well-to-do "normal" couple in, I believe, Chicago. They are married, have kids, white-collar jobs, but are involved in the swinging community. This one was the most interesting for me, because he talked about aspects of human physiology that I had learned about in the past, how neither human males nor females being hard-wired for monogamy (not that this is some sort of excuse for multiple partners). The book is really funny and entertaining, and takes you into subcultures (FA, Swinging, other stuff) that you dont hear much or anything about. Entertaining if nothing else.

This book would be good during singing and dancing time. Its a fun book to read with your class and they can easily help you sing it because the pages are repetitive except for the last page. It will get students excited while they try to find out who stole the cookie from the cookie jar!

This series has been on my TBR shelf for a while and I have put off reading it again and again. WHY??????? Just finished this one and cannot wait for the next. This had a bit of everything; humour, romance, vamps, suspense and a hot, hot, hot hero. Loved the whole premise of the book. Everytime I heard Bones' voice in my head it was with a real pommy accent so BIG well done to JF. So many others have gone before me raving about this series, I won't waffle on too long. Suffice to say, wonderful read. Can't wait for the next one and what a way for it to finish. I have to get to work first thing and grab the next one off the shelf. Thank the good Lord above it is on the shelf!! Great kickoff to a new series. Big PS here. For all of you who don't like reading in the 1st person POV - don't be put off. I usually can't stand reading in the 1st person (why I am put off so many YA books), but this is so seamless, the author gives so much time to the dialogue with Bones, that you do NOT miss at all not being in his head. In fact, this would be a great series to get that prejudice out of your head!

The premise of this book itself is interesting, what would WWII be like had it started 2 years earlier, with Germany invading Czechoslovakia to "reclaim" Sudetenland, rather then allowing themselves to be appeased in the Munich agreement. Turtledove tells this counterfactual historical narrative through the eyes of characters on all sides of the events, from Russian Bomber pilots to Americans Stranded in Germany to Japanese soldiers invading Siberia. Overall, these characters are able to convey the larger events which occur around them, but individually are not very interesting. Additionally, some parts of the book are repetitive, eg. soldiers going on prisoner raids, or Russians drinking vodlka. Overall, a decent book, though not one of Turtledove's best.

This book was funny but it was outdated. The author was talking about how stirrup pants are so comfy when you are pregnant. And yes, its definitely not for the natural crowd.

3.5 stars. I didn't like this as well as the first book. But I am looking forward to Alani's story next

This was an excellent quick book to read. The author writes about her husband's traumatic brain injury when he is struck by a car in New York City while running after their dog. His brain damage is severe and he ends up in a long-term care facility. She writes beautifully of her married life before and after the injury. This book offers a true lesson in love and living in the present. At some point I'll probably go back and re-read this book because I enjoyed it so much that I gobbled it down too quickly.
