This volume wraps up the trilogy quite nicely, no loose ends. I really enjoyed this particular world. It was exciting and had somewhat unexpected moments as well.

Ah ha, I am copying my own comment on someone else's review into this review because I am lazy and I think it's sad that I never wrote anything here. Homo Zapiens is (IMO) Pelevin's tour de force. It's a totally fucking incredible story of advertising and mass psychology in post-Communist Russia, with a heavy dose of psychedelic mushrooms, violence, mistaken identity, etc. It's been a few years since I read it, but holy shit was it ever nuts. Plus one of the best cover illos ever.

Recommended by my advisor because it is about the process of scientific discovery.

I liked this book better than the first three, at the beginning. Maybe it's because there was a wedding and honeymoon. My husband (who has not read any of these books) made fun of me for not getting into the books until there was some sex. Well, excuse me for being human. The middle was totally like the book "Rosemary's Baby", where the main character was pregnant with Satan's baby. At least, that's what it reminded me of. That was freaky when Bella was pregnant. I started to get weirded out at the point. Then the end with the vampire fights and stuff seemed pretty much just like the other books. All was normal again. I didn't hate these books, but I never fell in love with them. It took me a long time to get through the last couple hundred pages. But now at least I am up on my pop culture. Congrats to me.

Only book I've ever thrown directly into the garbage can after reading. So many scientific errors/straight up lies, my head nearly exploded.

This is read by Tom Stechschulte and several others. I'm a big Stechschulte fan. Circus freaks, pacts with the devil, magic, nothing is what it seems--interesting.

Shadowkeep was the first Alan Dean Foster book I ever read, back when I was around 9 or 10 years old. It set my expectations for what fantasy novels would be like and was probably the first thing I thought of when I learned about the existence of Dungeons & Dragons. I remember thinking that the nonhuman races were really cool, and that the reptilian race in particular was way more interesting than the usual elves, dwarves, and goblins you always heard about in fantasy stories. I expect the book wouldn't hold up well if I read it again today, since so many other Alan Dean Foster books I've reread have turned out to be dreadful disappointments, but at the time I first read it I was totally nuts over it.

What this book is about in fewer words than this sentence: Every rumor you've ever heard about sororities are true. What I learned from this book: All rich, popular white girls are exactly the same. Sorority stereotypes are true. Women tend to treat each other like shit. College students make boring subject matter.
