First this book is about the relationships between the Afrian American maid/nanny and the southern women of the elite households in whivh the work. Kathryn Socketts's characters are mesmorizing. Their personalities are intriguing. The individuals have diverse exclusive lives that connect into relationships of friendship, work and hatred are real. This book is a bit longer than what I usually read but I couldn't put it down. Each chapter finished with a cliffhanger which made me want to read another. I can't wait till she finishes another novel.

To sum up how I feel about this book: 1. I read this book on a trip to Europe, and while everyone else wanted to go out and give'r all night in Budapest, I wanted to stay in and read finish this story. 2. I never bend the pages of my books, and rarely crack the spines, but this book is read to shreds. 3. I can read it in about 3 hours tops. I've read it at least twice a year since 2000. 4. I HATED THE MOVIE AFTER THE FIRST 5 MINUTES.
