This is my all time favorite book (so far). Read it for class my sophomore year of high school and just re-read it this December to see if I still would love it. I do. It's still number 1!

Along the lines of Leo the Late Bloomer: liked it!

Good story, but a little hard to get into at times. I knew there was a twist, so I kept reading to see what it was...and it didn't disappoint! (although I had an inkling of what the twist might be) The story takes place in NC, so that kept it interesting for me.

Very informative with ample research but it reads like a text book and jumps so quickly between examples as to be distracting.
Powerful beginning but resolution less interesting, mainly beause the husband's silence was not credible to me. None of the characters were particularly likeable which was a good choice. Intersection of the plot with historic milestones eg anti-war marches etc made story vivid. Needed more of that, esp. since the story happened over such a long time period.

This is a review of (scanlations of) all 12 volumes. Death Note is amazing. Granted, it's not as much fun after the infamous turning point, but I'd still recommend the whole series to just about anyone. That is, unless you're looking for emotional gratification. While there are relationships here that resemble romance and friendship, they're all illusions. This is a marvelously cerebral story. The art and writing are incredible. The characters actually look like Japanese people (with the exception of Misa-Misa and the characters who aren't Japanese, but um...). Speaking of Misa, this story is very misogynistic. I guess that didn't bother me much because I was so dazzled by the plot (and, to be honest, I tend not to identify with female characters). This is pure excitement. There are very few boring parts, if any, which is quite appropriate for a story about a smart, talented, bored teenager who quells his boredom by trying to emulate a (death) god. For me, this series is really about the halo effect. Even more interesting than the fast-paced plot and the cold, creative, almost inhuman characters is the exploration of what happens when a killer looks not like what we want killers to look like, but rather a handsome, charismatic, well-educated young man. I was rooting for Light the whole time, way more than I should have, but then again, it's not difficult for me to empathize with bored psychopaths (Tom Ripley, anyone?). But I felt much more akin to L. After I finished I started sitting and holding things just like him.

This is a good guide -- particularly if you are interested in Senior Photography. The focus was on correcting problems (weight, baldness, acne, ect) using lighting, posing and digital software. The very last chapters on digital retouching had some great ideas for those wanting to learn more about Photoshop retouching steps.

There were lots of moving parts to this story, but somehow Kava managed to pull them all together. The story line was giving me the creeps by the end. It's crazy to think that stuff like that really happens. I really enjoy the character Maggie I was impressed with her heroics at the end of the book. Alex Kava is always offers a great read.

byebye edward HELLO JACOB!!!!
Amazingly told with a very interesting plot. You get the story of Camelot, set in modern day times. Of course all the drama with the football players, cheerleaders, and cliques is a little bonus. Very catchy, you'll want to re read it again and again. Nice, simple, easy, and cute!
