I had a little bit of a hard time getting into this book, but once I did, I enjoyed it and had trouble putting it down. It's an interesting blend of horror and thriller. The characters are memorable and the writing is spot-on. I especially liked the literary ties Klavan concocted, on which the entire plot is based. It speaks to the power of the written word, in this case classic Victorian ghost stories. This was my first Klavan novel, and I'll probably start reading more of his.

I loved that this book put a face on these ten women. It made me want to be a better person and be more prepared. I liked the idea that all of these women were neat ladies, they just let things in their life get in the way of preparing for the Savior.

Wow....that was awesome got a little bit of everything and a whole lot of sex, sex...even a little m/m and more sex! It was almost a little too much, actually it kinda was for me at one point. But I've been assured by the person who got me to start this series, Tex, that the plots get better as the series goes on. LOVED Remy and Haley they were great together, the immediate sex was a bit much for me and I thought I would have like a bit more build-up but it was still good. I mean damn...the sex?? shiiiit. HOT HOT HOT! Creed and Annika (I know, I know Tex, Creed is yours haha!) but they're cute and I wonder what their adventure will be but Im sure whatever it is, Annika will be kicking and screaming the entire time haha. Im curious about Dev, I felt so sad for him. I hope he gets a happy ending soon too! I liked Wyatt and Ender.....Ender, hmmm I think someone needs to put him in his place ;) Can't wait to start the next in the series.......which I've just learned I will be getting for Christmas! Squeek! :D

It wasn't until I came to the end of the book and saw the discussion guide that I realized this is sometimes classroom reading. Still, it's crafted well and characterizations are strong.

This story is a about a classroom of children that live on Venus. The rain stops only every seven years and todays is the day. All the children are excited, especially little margot, who came from earth five years before. The other children are angry at her for having seen the sun before and they lock her in a closet. While she is still inside, the other children forget about her and run outside into the clear day. Several hours later, it begins to rain again, and the kids remember margot. They return to the class room and open the door for Margot, but it is too late, the rain had already begun. This is a very touching story for how short it is. It develops well and you already feel for Margot because she is sickly because of the climate on Jupiter. This was a great story even though there was no happy ending. The idea for the story is unique and is worth five stars.
