an informative book. it's good for those who don't know a whole lot and are just starting out with a new life change. it's also a good book for parents/loved ones to read, if someone in their life has made the decision to become vegetarian. it walks you through all the important things. great read.

Uhh i don't know what to write about this. Most of this I thought was confusing although written very pretty I just didn't see much character depth as I see in her other series.

Ah, Granny Weatherwax. I'm a little lukewarm on Agnes/Perdita character, but this book was packed with Granny moments with a giant heaping of Nanny Ogg, so I didn't want it to end. Now, I need to get cracking and paint my Granny goes to the Opera model.
Loved this book! It had the right amount of the morbid for me. Don't read if you don't like reading about truly dysfunctional families! Probably the most fascinating for me was being inside each of the characters' heads, stream-of-consciousness style. This was much easier to read than The Sound & the Fury.

Sports journalism at its finest. Buzz Bissinger went to Odessa, Texas in 1988 to document a town obsessed with high school football. What he found was not only that, but a world strictly divided between black and white. Where blacks were only welcomed on the football field...if they could play. Bissinger chronicles everybody from the players to the coaches to the parents to the town's citizens who care more about cheering on their Permian Panthers than they do about their jobs and families. The most interesting profiles are that of Coach Gary Gaines, who faces incredibly unreasonable pressure for a high school football coach, and star running back James "Boobie" Miles, who is king of the town until he blows out his knee, at which point he's tossed aside and forgotten by those used to cheer his name. Friday Night Lights is not just a book about football, but an extremely well written sociological study.

A moving, poignant story about three women – Kavita, a mother in rural India who is forced to give her daughter up for adoption to protect her from infanticide, Somer an American doctor unable to bear a child and Asha the daughter Kavita gives up and Somer adopts. The author does a remarkable job exploring and expressing the emotions these women feel, each struggling with their losses and fears – Kavita racked with guilt and tortured by memories of leaving her crying infant in an orphanage, Somer’s suffering over her infertility and later her insecurities as an adoptive mother and Asha’s yearning to find her roots and come to terms with the fact that her parents gave her up. The book is a tribute to mothers everywhere. Besides Somer and Kavita, there are two other strong mothers in the novel – Dadima and Ba. The book is also about family. In today’s society in which we have so many kinds of families, the message of “Secret Daughter” is that “at some point the family you create is more important than the family you are born into”. Asha goes to India seeking out “one family and ended up discovering another”. The book explores social problems like the disregard for female children in India. The plot is excellent, moves smoothly and keeps the reader riveted. Whereas the female characters in the book are well drawn, the male characters in the book are all but ignored so one may complain that the book does not give all characters fair representation. Men may dismiss the book as chick-lit but when you consider the serious topics the book explores which is part of our lives today, the book is relevant for male and female readers alike. An excellent first novel which I highly recommend

The second wordless book in the adventures of Fox and Hen is just as funny as the first, including some surprising, gasp-inducing moments. The illustrations perfectly express the action, giving readers enough to supply the story from their own imaginations. I hope there will be more!

I was appalled to find out my boyfriend made it through the American school system without reading this book.
