I really enjoyed this book. My children aren't heading off to college soon, but this book is great for any parent who is trying to get perspective or a game plan on how to pick and plan for college. I would say there is as much advice in here about choosing a college as paying for it (and Zac shows they are related). Zac is impressive for a 21 year old and he knows his stuff. He's a Dave Ramsey fan who advocates no student loans and hard work to get through school. If you have any inkling of taking out loans to pay for school, this book will talk you out of it. My favorite chapters are where he debunks college rankings and shows how to save money during college (very creative ideas).

I started reading Giles Blunt for his cop series set in North Bay because I used to live in North Bay. I started No Such Creature and it was a bit TOO realistic for me! After a couple of murders which had me almost in tears, I had to stop reading it. He write well and - unfortunately - I almost felt like I was there. It was hard to put the book down because I was very involved with the engaging protagonists. I'd recommend it highly if you are not prone to nightmares...

Totally recommended for all women who believe in the power of the intuitive and to understand how our bodies work as we approach mid life and post 40.

The reviews inside the book describe it as a "Bridget Jones for men". I think the comparison may be somewhat of a stretch, but I still enjoyed the book very much. The story is about a young single man looking for action/love in New York City. Some scenes are hilarious, some heartbreaking, but more than anything I finished the book wanting to find a boy as taken with me as the main character of the book is with his coworker, Julia.

This is the only book by Ted Dekker that I've read, and I want to read more of them, I just have to get the guts to do it. This guy can write some pretty scary stuff. Well I find it scary 'cause I don't do well with that whole horror, psycho-killer stuff. But the book was good, besides the fact I was like oh God when will it end! Not meaning it was so bad that I wanted it to end, I wanted to find out how it ended and the suspense was driving me nuts. Suspense is much too suspenseful for my liking. Anyway, if you like these kind of suspense books I suggest you read it! Oh and by the way this book was made into a movie and that I also found suspenseful but also very good.

An interesting and accessible overview of Wittgenstein's life and works. This series is good if you are starting to study philosophy or if you just wish to know more about philosophy.

This book defined the modern novel, some say. Do you remember when being French was actually cool? Camus does... and is. Also home to one of the best opening lines in modern fiction. Rivals the end of the Great Gatsby.

Well that was slightly interesting, but not nearly as exciting as I hoped it would be. Bummer… Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy it as much as the promising reviews said I would, and there was never really a moment in this book where I was sitting at the edge of my seat creeped out or spooked senseless, which is what I was hoping for… odd as that may seem. By the last 50 pages, I found myself skimming through to the ending, so I guess that tells you I was ready to be done with this book. I feel Kendare Blake had a good concept going for her where she has her protag Cas hunting violent ghosts, which ultimately leads him to Thunder Bay, Ontario. His latest quest is a ghost named Anna who was violently murdered in 1958; and since then it’s been rumored that she’s been haunting her abandoned home and maiming trespassers. When Cas meets up with Anna she spares his life and the story takes a turn that felt in so many words… awkward. It went from ghost-hunting to solving the mystery behind the man –eating monster that k1lled Cas’s father and all of a sudden his ghost weapon becomes a suspicious plot device. That’s where I became slightly uninterested. I enjoyed the story when it was hunting ghosts and trying to find out about their past and why they continued to linger, but when weird events suddenly started to occur like the attic rattling, cats getting eaten, the football player steals Cas’s athame and people are showing up dead and bitten, I was ready to get off of the bus. Overall, the writing was good, but not spectacular. There were times that Anna Dressed in Blood felt like a paranormal and other times it felt like a horror film, but I was never sucked into the storyline nor did I feel blown away by the characters or events. I think the attempted romance at the end, fell short and if a sequel is in the works, I’ll pass. I’m being generous with my three stars because I’m only slightly disappointed and disengaged. My three stars is more for a worthy attempt that had potential. :/
