I chose this book for my book club to read. I especially like it because it follows McCrumb's own family history.

I love this idea. I love the setting. I love the characters, the world building, and the intensity of each event in the story. I love Lena's writing and Macon's everything. I love Boo and the rationale for his name. I love every single thing about Ethan Lawson Wate. Honestly, the only think stopping this from being 5 stars for me is that the pacing moves at the speed of a dirge, even in action scenes. That said? Best believe I'll be reading book 2 soon.

First Thoughts Oh. Mein. Gott. My Soul to Lose anfangen. Ambivalenz pur. Was wenn doch? Blabla.)

I nearly named my son "Yossarian" after Heller's [anti]hero in this novel. Loved loved loved this book, and the movie wasn't bad, either. I haven't re-read it in over 30 years, so not sure if it would hold up today. An anti-war novel in anti-war times would be hard not to love. But my love for Yossarian went beyond the war thing. He was the only sane man in an absurd world. He was smart, he was a survivor.....But I think my son is happier being Riley. Looking back on it, the best character was probably Milo Minderbinder. Selling Egyptian cotton as a food, selling to the enemy the strafing his own army's airfield. Gotta give that boy credit for ambition and American know-how.

Another classic that is one of my absolute favorites! A true happy ending romance novel that I believe to this day has still been the most read novel...I was made to read it for a lit class in college and loved it! Last year I picked up another copy and read from the middle on and was blown away again. If plain old Jane can be loved, we all can :-)

Such a good read to understand many misconceptions and to get through the lies. How power is abused and people are manipulated sometimes by the media and some other times by our own ideas.

This book will make you laugh, cry and book a flight to Asia. Written by a woman who divorces and travels the world for a year. It is emotionally and spiritually charged. Can be a real opportunity for opening the mind and spirit.

Hey Oh! Who loves knitting socks more than me? No one! This book is rife with info about knitting socks but also the history of knitting socks and even wool in Europe vs. wool here in the state and how and why they differ. Even if you don't know the difference between knitting and purling, the first part of this book has enough history to keep you interested.

Levin is a genius at horror. His straight-forward style initially lulls the reader into a false sense of security that quickly turns into a spiral descent into paranoia on the part of the reader with each passing page. I've mostly read his earlier works (Rosemary's Baby, Stepford Wives, A Kiss before Dying), and in all of them, I find myself yelling at the characters, telling them to please watch themselves, that those tiny strange details they've noticed and dismissed are really important. The movies of Levin's books, although good in some cases, disappointed me--there are subtleties to his style that I think are impossible to capture on film.

Read it in highschool, don't know why I did not become a vegetarian then... or more political for that matter.
