Have to agree with PJH on this one. I love Sedaris but this book wasn't his best. I gave it a 3 though for the fact that I had quite a few laugh-out-loud moments in the first part of the book. This was Sedaris in his element - waxing on about various odd experiences from his very own, completely unique, perspective. The last 1/3 of the book however, was dedicated to only one topic - Sedaris' quest to quit smoking after 20-odd years, a quest that entailed a temporary move to Tokyo, Japanese lessons and a lot of thinking. And it all sounds interesting enough except that once he started on the tale, I found very quickly that I really didn't care. Too bad. Now that he's a non-smoker, I'm sure Mr. Sedaris will find many a new habit to fill his former smoking time. I hope he'll write it about them all.

The first two books in this trilogy are excellent! The third was a little anticlimactic.

It's been a while since I've read a book by Richelle Mead. I can't believe I forgot just how great a writer she is! Like all of Richelle Mead's books, this one was humorous, witty, fascinating, entertaining, unputdownable, a thrill, romantic, and all over awesome. Reading this book was a little like coming home. I got to see some of my favorite people (cough, characters) and engage in a good plot in an all too familiar world. Okay, now that that's all done... ADRIAN! He's awesome, just saying. Eddie isn't half bad either, but I literally squealed whenever (okay, not all the time, just most times) Dimitri was mentioned. Sigh. I love these books. And the guys, as you can clearly tell. I can't wait til the next book! Oh, and Sydney had better come to her senses. She may be astute on some things, but she has several other things to realize. Mostly, about herself.

Just couldn't do it. I tried, but I kept falling asleep every four pages--so I didn't get past the first 35... Maybe another time...

This seemed like a good "beach" read when I started but it eventually evolved into a trite, kind of silly romantic novel. I'd still say it's ok for a vacation read but then again, why not read something good!

Lawrence Ferlinghetti writes real psychedelic words, with mind blowing ideas couched in words simple enough for a child to get, complex enough to keep reading it all your life.

Absolutely hilarious! Eric Flint hits the funnybone in this book. If you don't believe me, go take a look, you won't regret it.

Kindred tells the story of Dana, a modern-day black woman living in Altadena, CA who is repeatedlly wisked through space and time to a maryland plantation during the slave era. I thought this was a brilliant idea - instead of the usual attempt to bring the historic to the present reader, she came up with a way to bring a present person to the history. But I was dissappointed that she didn't do more with this concept. The characters felt flat - I didn't feel like Butler had really thought things through from anyone's perspective but the main character. A large percentage of the cast were prone to irrational acts that were out of character. This seemed to be her main method of moving the plot along, which I thought was a cop-out. This was a quick and easy read, so despite its shortcomings I think for many people this is still an interesting enough book to check out.

I read this for a class in Russian Literature last fall, and as with many books that I read for classes, I was glad that I had been required to read this but felt at the end that I needed more time to absorb the storyline. I hope that someday I'll have the chance to go back and reread The Master and Margarita. The playfulness of the story and the style as compared to the darkness of the Soviet life in which Bulgakov writes is an interesting contrast and I hope someday to have the time to further explore it.
