I am a big fan of Allison Hobbs and her work, and she hasn't disappointed me yet...and I don't think she ever will. This book in my opinion is simply awesome. Even though I didn't read "Double Dippin" or "Big Juicey Lips" I could definitely envision Misty and Brick. And envision the history they had before in prior works. Allison has a way of using descriptive words to the point where you can picture the scene. She uses really graphic violence scenes that make you go DAMN! and the sex scenes are also HOT! Misty is one of those characters that you just love to hate because of all the messed up crap that she does to people. In the end she loses everything that to her she has accomplished. I seriously didn't want to see her go because I really was hoping that this would continue into a sequel but I really don't think it will. This book was definitely wicked and full of drama. She had me cracking up though with that ashy dude though. I will continue reading Allison's books. Forever a loyal fan!

Seems a bit narrow on first examination - would Routledge publish this in-depth analysis of the churchwarden accounts of a sixteenth century parish in rural Devon? In paperback? However, it is a really interesting read, particularly with regard to the impact of the Reformation on the engagement of the community in parish activity. And how awful to save for twenty years for some black vestments only to have them made illegal with the coming of the Reformation that very year!

It doesn't exist and their is no such thing as magic. Unfortunately for Portia her friend,Sarah has no such problem believing in magic or the paranormal. They travel to Scotland and find a fairy ring where Portia reads one of the summoning rituals Sarah has downloaded from the internet. Presto- Chango a virtue arrives and transfers her powers to Portia, who has no idea what happened or how to control them. Theo North shows up shortly and tries to convince Portia she needs him to be her Champion, cause she has seven trials to face to be confirmed and allowed into the Court of Divine Blood. He is a nephilim, the son of an fallen angel and a mortal, and he wants entry into the Court. If he helps her become a Virtue she can help him get a soul and gain access to the Court. Unknown to both they are caught up in plot by others who are trying to take over the Court. As they work their way through the trials many unexpected things occur, such as a trip to Abbaddon to face Bael, the ruler. It was humerous, and had a funny romance. If readers are looking for clever, witty, paranormal romances, then they need look no further than Katie MacAlister to begin their list. Portia's conversion from skeptic to believer is filled with laughs and highlighted by moments of profoundness. This is my least favourite Dark One novel yet, but it is still entertaining and the ones that came before this one are wonderful.

I liked it. It moved rather slowly, but I liked the glimpses into Selenay's early reign and of the culture. Unfortunately, the hardcover edition was so expensive that I swore I wouldn't read the sequel until it came out in paperback. And then I forgot about it.

One of my favorite books this year. McCann captures the inner lives of a web of New Yorkers whose lives are left with the thumbprint of Philippe Petit's 1974 tightrope walk between the towers of the World Trade Center. McCann's vibrant imagination and rich language weave a tight and engaging narrative. The only flaw was a slight flatness to the sense of time. It was difficult to remember that the novel is set in 1974, although that may also be a positive factor in the timelessness of the stories of New York.
