I read this along with my 12 year old son since it was suggested for 7th grade and up. The Gone series consists of six books, two have yet to be been published I enjoyed this book, read the second book (Hunger) and I'm currently reading the third book (Lies). Meanwhile, my son plowed through four "Gone" books. NOW I realize that the third book is more of a young adult book...kinda romance-y with innuendo. Oh well, too late now, but I wish the books were consistent and I should have done further research.

I read "The Robe" because Pastor Joel mentioned it in a sermon when I was in 11th grade. I like this one better, and all of his other books much worse. This is not a classic (it bears to much a resemblence in some places to a cheesy and stereotypical romance), but is worth reading.

At first I couldn't get hold of this one. It was a ranting guy, with a personality disorder. But if I cut out the ranting and the useless bits; there is a very sad story behind roadwork. A story of a broken father that can't give away the only memories of his only son. If I where in Bart's shoes I'd most probably done the exact same thing, and screw what people think! I keep thinking that I like Richard more than Stephen sometimes - I like dark; I like the 'not nick's guys. Roadwork is not King's best, but the for me personally it screams: "Don't let go!"

So, I almost stopped reading The Days of Summer by Jill Barnett, even though her Dreaming was one of my first and favorite "romance novels." It's a story with chapters/segments from the point of view from different characters, which isn't my favorite kind of story, and it quite obviously isn't a romance novel--although the cover's pretty cheesy. However, I'm now sucked in and can hardly put it down. Go figure.

I like almost all of Dr. Seuss' books, but this one is a head and shoulders above the rest, mostly because it's more than a catchy rhyme with easy-to-read words. "A person's a person no matter how small". Even though it's not the author's intent, I always think of that phrase in terms of abortions and it makes me sad.
