Picked up one of the recent ebooks from the Torquere range (which: my god, but those summary emails are a highlight of my week. Not even joking.) This probably deserves a little more than 2 stars - it wasn't bad by any means - and the prose was workmanlike enough, and the story was sufficiently interesting to get me to do more than read the summary, so props for that, but it does suffer some of the usual gay fiction tropes of having some really cliched phrasing and plot in parts, and some terrible euphemism/word choices during the sex scenes. Mostly felt like it would benefit from tighter editing by a fussier reader. I don't regret spending a couple bucks on it, but I'm unlikely to reread this one. (Or, tl;dr -- frankly, my taste is spoiled by fandom. Heh.)

Most of it seems forced, but it works sometimes. The collection's main flaw: the narrative voice was the same throughout all the stories and it was only really effective in a handful of them. Still, when it worked, it worked, and I was impressed after the first read-through. After a period of digestion, though, there were only a few stories that actually stuck. So: one star for each of the stories I actually really, really liked -- "The Swim Team" and "Something That Needs Nothing" -- and half a star each for "Mon Plaisir" and "How to Tell Stories to Children."

Well again, I wrote a really short review before, but again, I've decided to expand, just because. Let me start by saying how much I love Matt. I personally spend all day, ever. Single. Day. Wishing that I could fly! Every day I wish to myslef that I could fly, so I totally know how it feels. I'm a little jealous because the cloest I've ever gotten to flying (besides an airplane) is parisailing. And it was awesome, by the way. So I don't hate hiehgt, though I can get nervous if I feel like I'm going to fall. I'm totally jealous of Kate because she is everything I wish I was, and she's the one that gets Matt. I wish that world actually existed. Everything is so perfect! The next two books just get better and better.

Love all the J.D. Robb books and liked the twist that Peabody was in charge of the investigation this time. Even though this is the 32nd book, the characters continue to evolve and keep me engaged. And, it's also quite amazing that the plots don't repeat themselves!

I didn't much like this book. Tatiana de Rosney is a good writer, but I had a hard time connecting with the characters and the story was of little interest to me. The first half of the book was slow and laborious to read, and while I liked the second half of the book better as things picked up, ultimately, I still didn't care much about the outcome. I'd try another one of de Rosnay's books, but I'm glad to be done with this one.

I did give this novel a lot of stars because even thou it had its small issues it really kept me reading for hours on end. I practically stayed up reading for hours on end. I will agree some repatitiveness was in it but I can look past that. I can connect with the characters in some ways which made it even better for me and the characters weren't so macho or pig headed like some are in books. shanna I will say was a bit over emotional but in all honesty a lot of women are so I def let it go. I actually read the 5th novel first and I can tell her style to me has improved since the first novel but I plan to read all of them.
