I chose Couples Who Pray to review from BookSneeze. This was because Dear Hubby and I have wanted to strengthen our prayers together. As can happen so easily we have let our religious beliefs become more and more private. Now we feel it is important to make a point to pray together. It is a slow process...and I don't know why it is for us. Other than it is a very intimate part of our lives, prayer. But we are starting off praying once a week together. We are also adding in bible study time too. This is with the aid of a wonderful bible that our son provided for us. Set up just for couples to study with. My thanks to Lil J! I know it says: Matthew 18:19-20 (New International Version) 19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two . . . gather in my name, there am I with them.” I love that there is a 40 day challenge to help a couple strengthen this aspect of their lives. And since I am one who learns best studying the question guide in the back of this book is a wonderful help to me. I am sure it will help spurn some great eye opening conversations with Dear Hubby and I. I want to leave you with one more item from Couples Who Pray. Remember the acronym for remembering Six Steps to a Happy Marriage: L – laughter A – appreciation of your spouse U – understanding G – God (at the center) H – honoring one another S – support, or being supportive

Thanks for another great suggestion, Anna! Loved this book. This author is truly gifted when it comes to using language in a completely unconventional way. I was just amazed the whole book at the way he described things. This is a story about a young girl growing up in Nazi Germany, and it is narrated by Death. (You find this out right away, so I'm not giving anything away). But it is lovely and insightful even while the world is falling apart.

** spoiler alert ** Was a very good book -- very good continuation of the last one that focused mainly on Rand (this one was all Mat and Perrin). Like I'm sure some others may feel, I felt that the final, glorious showdown between Mat and those that lived in the world of the Aelfin and Eelfin was a little... rushed. Still good, just rushed. I mean, we had been waiting for this showdown and the possible rescuing of Moraine for a long, long, long time (when did she disappear -- the bloody 5th book?)

Synge excels at showcasing and exploiting Irish stereotypes in this play. However, Synge does this in a way that is both comedic and enlightening. Christy, the main character, tells a story about killing his own father. The townspeople become intrigued and fascinated by this story and come to regard him as a local hero and playboy. However, things turn darker as the truth is revealed about Christy's story and the townspeople learn that there is difference between the story of something and the actual deed. As a writer, I would like to incorporate this same sense of realization in my stories.

I loved this book. Johnston, over 40, decides to take a guided "test run" whitewater rafting trip on the Boh River in Borneo. Immediately, Johnston is confronted with the loss of her luggage. Uh oh. The group soon finds out that the local tribal people believe evil spirits live in the river, but of course as westerners they scoff at this. They soon learn that the natives avoid the river for many reasons, among them intense rapids and tons of bees. The writing is good, and the story is gripping -- things keep getting worse and worse for the group.
