I came across this book, and the series, by chance. And as I find myself enjoying the paranormal romance genre, I figured why not give it a chance. I'm very glad I did. Not only did I find it an enjoyable read which I couldn't put down, I've become addicted. I must admit that at first the story and the characres reminded me ALOT of Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, but as the story progressed, I found myself liking the author's unique take on vampires and the supernatural. Plus, I adore the BDB series, so did not mind some of the similarities! Besides the above, I was pleasantly suprised, and liked, the constant action, suspense, and the "bad assness" of the Breed warriors; and the romantic in me loved seeing these tough warriors handle love. I would def recommend this book to others, and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Very interesting and highly entertaining -- about the culture of the bond trading desk at Salomon Brothers during the 1980's and, in the second half of the book, the junk bond market and leveraged buyouts that took place in the mid- to late- 80's. I enjoyed the second half of the book more, when Michael Lewis was moved to the London office of Salomon Brothers and he began to acquire some stature at SB.

Another Young Adult book, but very interesting WWII book! Didn't know children were taken from their homes and schooled to be Germans. Miladas journey is a great reminder to "Remember who you are!".

P.L. Tavers' classic book was fascinating in how different it was from the movie. I was expecting something familiar, but was treated to an adventurous book with many unknown elements. I particularly liked the tale about the Dancing Cow and the gingerbread cookies.

It was lovely to see Sarah and Grey the parrot again. This was very different from Lackey's other Elemental Masters books but I really enjoyed this. A welcome change in the series.

I was very excited to read this book. It looked fantastic and had won awards and seemed to be written in a fresh, contemporary style... But two things bugged the crap out of me: 1. The prose poetry, which she used throughout the book. It was repetitive--and poetry has every right to be--but that's not something I enjoy reading for anything over 100 pages. It was a cute voice to read for the first couple of chapters and then I just felt like I was wading through it. 2. The whole story is told in this strange passive way. It isn't the grammatical passive voice, but rather--nothing happened. The author was telling 2 or 3 stories at once (about 1000 years apart from each other), but in both stories, you never really see the action happening (except in the drowning). The rest of the time, it's describing what a great memory the trees have and how awful Gar Face is (for the 400th time). There was no action to hook me, no suspense to capture my mind, and after 54 very short chapters, the characters were the same as always--living out the descriptions that she had drilled into us by her repeating poetry. I couldn't take it. I felt like it was never going to evolve. I had no idea what the plot was or what I was supposed to keep reading to find out and I wasn't attached to any of the characters. I didn't know anything about them except that the mother was caring, Puck was a cut up, Sabine was skilled, and the dog loved them all. That right there is all I learned from reading half the book. And I knew that from the first 15 pages. The rest of it was just repeating that. I stopped halfway through. Whatever happens in the end isn't worth all that.

"The starting point for anyone interested in computer security. The book is a classic and has many imitations. Schneier is brilliant and is still a leading luminary in the world of security."
