Its not often a university text is also a fantastic read (not in science degrees at any rate.) This book is. Read it.

If my memory serves me correct, this is the first Amelia Peabody mystery novel. I now have probably at least 15 of these books on my shelf and Elizabeth Peters keeps popping a new one out every year. Amelia is a Egyptologist at the beginning of the 20th century. Each book contains new mysteries ("every year, another body") that threaten the archeological digs in which she participates. You get to watch the characters grow over the years, deal with real historical issues (Britain's occupation of Egypt, Arab Nationalism, WWI). These books are much more than simple historical mysteries, they're also comedies and romances. Amelia's wit and attitude are addictive and the books just keep getting better. Update: Reread the entire series from late 2008 through 2009. It took me awhile, what with work. But soooo enjoyable. And I really thought Tomb of the Golden Bird was the end of the series but I'm ecstatic to hear there's a new Amelia Peabody book out!

Valerie J. Patterson's short story, That Taste of Orange, is a delighful and fast read. Within the first paragraph, Ms. Patterson puts the reader in the midst of the heroine's plight. Sabrina and her husband own and operate a pastry shop. The rush of the Christmas season is upon them, and with it comes an emotional strain on their marriage. The endless arguments take their toll on Sabrina and crush her heart when she begins to question if her marriage has what takes to survive. For those of you who love a bit of angst mixed with the madness of the holiday season, you'll enjoy this story. The dialgue between Sabrina and Chas is real and believable, as are the problems within their marriage. Before you reach the end, you'll be hoping they have a very, Merry Christmas.

I'm not sure I can say I liked this book. I think the best word for it is dense. it isn't long, but its quite a read. took awhile to get me interested.

This is the second book in the series that is like James Bond for a YA crowd. I'm really enjoying this series. They're wonderful brain candy with fast (if highly improbable) plotting. In this book, Alex Rider infiltrates an elite boarding school in the middle of France that is more prison than school. Only, of course, there's something shady going on with the students... I'll be picking up the rest of the books though I'm not sure I'll be buying them - they're more library books, I'm thinking.

I listened to this on CD and really enjoyed it. I feel listening to this added a lot to the book because of all the great Southern accents. The characters were unique and memorable. I was sad for it to end because I wanted to know what happened to each person. Be warned that there is some mild swearing and a crazy naked man but other then that it was a very enjoyable read.

I have big issues with this play. It essentializes what it means to be a woman, equating femininity with a having a vagina! Not to mention endorsing racial and cultural stereotypes.

I recommend this book for children ages 9-12. The book is now called "Time Travelers" and the cover art has changed - likely because this one is a bit creepy for children and doesn't deal as much with Gideon as the children who travel through time back to 1763. The new cover claims you will like it if you like Harry Potter, but there isn't any magic in it so I think that statement misleading. I found it entertaining and educational concerning science and history.

Probably my favorite book of all times. I read it at least once a year. Usually two or three times. The paper back copy I bought in 1984 is worn and tattered and been all over the world. It is definitely an old dear friend of mine!
