Very quick read. I loved most of the ideas in this book - the Diaper Gang, the foreign flavor, learning more about the Keys. But none of these ideas were, in my opinion, fully explored. I would have liked more details and character development. Side stories, such as with Turtle's father and grandmother, were very interesting at first, but soon petered out and were left hanging. The whole idea about the gold seemed extremely far-fetched. Overall I would have to say that I did like the book, but was left wanting a bit more substance.

If I saw Chuck K on the street, I would tell him that I feel like we are old friends. Reading his work is comforting and familiar and always satisfying for me. The only reason this collection is a 3 and not 4 is because I am not a huge fan of his articles on music, and this is only because I'm not really a music person much anymore.

I've 'read' this insofar as I read most of the relevant chapters on the website, and it would be worlds less offensive if it called itself 'what trendy are reasonably affluent hipsters like'. The conflation of race with specific class and cultural markers is part of their schtick, I get it, but it's really off-putting.
