Oof, did not really care for this book. It's well written, but left me cold, and I could never quite make up my mind whether the whole Windup Girl concept was handled well enough to make up for the inherent creepy male-gaziness of the idea. Also, I got within 50 pages of the end, when things that seemed like they ought to have been exciting were happening, and just put it down and went to sleep. At 9:30 on a Friday. I just didn't care.

Fun, fast escapist crime fiction that I could complete in one sitting. I enjoyed Stephanie Plum's take-no-prisoners brassy New Jersey attitude and her stereotypical Italian family, the quirky grandmother especially. The only thing that slightly turned me off was the violent sexual nature of the crimes committed by one antagonist. However, thankfully Evanovich does not go into lots of gory details like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I'll keep reading the series for escapism as long as it stays away from those kinds of details.

I can't even think sensibly enough to give this a real review. Not since I was fourteen and obsessed with the Harry Potter series, have I gone through books this quickly or manically. I read this so fast that I didn't even have time to put it in my "currently reading" shelf here and then, when I finally turned the last page I honestly couldn't believe I had finished, and actually kept turning blank pages looking for more. I'm like an addict. No, not "like" an addict. I am an addict. Please read these books and share in my addiction.
