Engaging characters and plenty of action (strongly recommended for YA and adult readers - seriously, go and get this book now!) This story is narrated by Seth, who is one of the most engaging characters I've ever come across (and as a lifelong avid reader and an English teacher, I have read a fair few books!). His voice is pitch-perfect, revealing his flaws as well as his strengths, and endearing him to us as we follow his journey from the Sidhe world into the Otherworld (our version of the world). Seth's background is difficult at best - unwanted by his mother and unacknowledged by his father, he is nevertheless capable of love and loyalty, almost despite himself. This love is largely directed to his half-brother Conal, whom we see him preparing to shoot at the book's opening, to save him from being burnt as a witch. Following this exciting episode, we are taken back to the long chain of events that leads to this point, to arrive there again about halfway through the narrative. The brothers' relationship is realistic and touching in its depiction of male affection, including the trading of insults and jibes. This is a gripping adventure story in a fantasy setting with its fair share of twists and turns, but it is the characters that steal the show. I'd strongly recommend this to readers of 12 plus - and will certainly be lending it to my 12 year old. There are references to sex, but they are subtle enough for younger readers to miss, while the novel's grand sweep and the masterful characterisation is more than sufficient to engage adult readers.

This is a lovely, illustrated poem. Although it is described as a "prayer" on the jacket flap, there is nothing that points to organized religion. The illustrations are beautiful and the girl's image changes race, hair color, etc., making it easy for any girl to see herself in these wishes for success. This book was so fasinating and intriguing, well worth a read. I had followed this book for a while, before it came out, disappointed when I had no money when it did, but it wasn't long till I found it. I started reading it almost straight away, but well my book broke (BTW if your edition has damaged in anyway, please comment below with information, just checking if there is an all round book fault or just mine) fortunately once I got a new one I was instantly back into the flow of reading it. This book is surpisingly set in 7years from now, 2018, it shows how just a short amount of time can change everything, and maybe minus the demon's this book has a believbility factor about it. From the first page I found myself gripped, barely able to put it down. The action begins straight from the first page til the last. I honestly thought this book was going to be about trapping demon's, but it's really about much more. It also sends out some important messages to the reader, such as: how important family is and well as always having a form of hope. The book was well planned out and structured, and it is obvious that Jana Oliver really put allot of planning and time into making such a fantastic book. There is much more to it than well-developed character's, but basically a whole new world, and different types of demon's which have also been created. Protagonist, Riley Blackthorne, is one of the strongest lead females I have ever came across in not just the literature world, but in films and real-life. She is an inspiration and a role-model for all females out there. She shows that family is important, friends too, and that without hope we have nothing left. I found no fault's with this book, everything about it was near perfect,

A really great story with a very lovable character. I adored Patrick: the more I read about him, the more I couldn't help but love him. I wanted him to have his happy ending because he really deserved it. There's a lot of humour in this story, in spite of the serious subject, but some parts just pull at your heart.

Definitive work for the serious student of Objectivist philosophy, this book is neither easy or quick BUT it is well worth the effort it takes to understand it. This brilliantly conceived book is based on a lecture course given by Dr. Leonard Peikoff in 1976 entitled, "The Philosophy of Objectivism". The lectures were attended by Ayn Rand, who helped prepare them and who also joined Peikoff in answering questions. Ayn Rand said of these lectures: "Until or unless I write a comprehensive treatise on my philosophy, Dr. Peikoff's course is the only authorized presentation of the entire theoretical structure of objectivism; that is, the only one that I know of my own knowledge to be fully accurate."

Most of my review for the first book (found here) applies to this one as well, with a few minor differences. I am not sure if it was the book or just what I was going through in real life at the time that I read it, but I found this one a little harder to get into than the first one. But not that much harder. It was still a very good read, although the plot felt slow at first and finally picked up towards the end of the book. Because of this, I did consider not getting the third book, but my curiosity about "what happens next" got to me and I ended up getting it anyway. I definitely don't regret spending money or time on this book, though, it was worth the read!
