I was delighted to see another book featuring Dexter Morgan. (Note: I read the books before the Showtime series- which I also dig.) I love this character. The storyline in this second book gets pretty gruesome,even by dismemberment-loving Dexter standards. Each installment fleshes out his character(pun intended?). I can't wait for the next book, due to be on the shelves in August '07. My kids (all over 18) get to fight over who gets it after Mom's done.

I learned pretty much everything that I didn't in History class... A lot of the information in this book was difficult to swallow, but incredibly important and relevant for anyone interested in developing a deeper understanding of the foundations which the United States is really built upon.

The fact that David Sedaris admits that constant cigarette smoking cured his OCD should say something about the dark comedic nature of this book. Amazing writer -- everything he does is fabulous. Also, check out his holiday collection of short stories called Holidays on Ice.

I was first introduced to Martin’s epic world of politics, royalty, fantasy, love, lust, betrayal, war and power when tripping over it (literally) at a friend’s house. At over 900 pages, he had finished reading Game of Thrones and decided to use it as a doorstop - he was feeling frustrated at the two year+ wait for the next installment…. In spite of his frustration, he told me to go buy a copy and read it (he wouldn’t lend me his copy as he was planning to re-read it over and over again until the next book came out).
