I loved this book! It was funny, touching and unusual. The main character, Zoe, was very likeable. Her family was funny and realistic,I thought the school she went to was cool, and I also loved all the secret code stuff. Fun to read and different.

The Taliban is quick to kill Hazaras as they killed his teacher in front of all the students. The mother takes her 10 year old son Enaiatollah to Pakistan & leaves him to fend for himself. The book follows Enaiatollah through his journeys as he struggles to survive. This book is engaging and a fairly quick read.

The story of baseball and 9 generations of a Brooklyn family told through 9 stories (or innings). It reads sort of like a book of short stories since each inning is about another character, but since each character is linked to the ones in the previous generations some reappear or at least their possessions do. The history of baseball is woven in very well.

I didn't expect to like this book because I'm not into the racing scene but Ms. McCarthy surprised me. I particularly liked that Tamara was not a super thin heroine. She had body issues and had a terrible self-image and Elec Monroe loved her anyway! I loved the statement from Tamara's best friend when Tamara was dating a total loser. "Unless that man over there is hiding a penis the size of an anaconda in his shit brown pants, you are too young, too pretty, too successful and too much fun to settle for that." Yeah that's what best friends are for! Excellent book. I can't wait to read Imogen and Ty's story Hard and Fast.
