I was completely sucked in to this story, set in Barcelona in the 30's and 40's. It's suspenseful without being cheesy, and layered and beautifully written. I really couldn't put it down. Everyone in my book club loved it, which almost never happens.

i like it- hey whatever it takes to get me to transform my house into a palace of organization. i have completed the kitchen for the most part and am on to the living room. makes you think about your surroundings in a whole new way. it at least makes housework feel a bit more lofty.

This stunning trilogy comes to a dramatic close in this series finale. Each loose end is tied up; each character gets their own closure, for better or worse; and every intricate detail building throughout the three books is beautifully resolved. I have seen this series get lots of comparison to the Farseer/Tawny Man series, however other than being based in the same world, they are nothing alike, and simply cannot be compared against each other. Although I did find myself much more attached to the character of Fitz on a personal level, than the characters in the Liveship Traders series, I was just as disappointed when the series came to an end. It took me a little while to get into the first book of this series, but what a worthwhile journey it was. Moving and intriguing, magical and breathtaking, cruel yet kind.. there are so many things that can be said about this series, but I adored each and very journey along the way. To say that there are so many main characters in this tale, not one of them ever lost their sparkle and individuality, which is a great achievement in my opinion. Each persons tale carefully unravelled, and intertwined to make these stories really something special. If you enjoy fantasy novels, with the inclusion of pirates, dragons, serpents, ships, loyalty, treachery, murder, romance, and much more, this will definitely be a series to try.
