I actually just picked this up at Target, not having read the previous book, or knowing that it was a sequel. I picked it up, thinking it would be an interesting read. Well, I couldn't finish it. Only 40 pages into it, and I had to stop. The author was just trying to hard for the characters to sound "hip" and "open-minded" and all of that. And the main character was so confusing. It seemed that she had this vendetta against religion, and yet at times was actually quite religious. Also, the idea of a female doctor and a Muslim in 12th century England is just absurd.

A delightful book about two sisters who live in a house with a magical garden. It reminded me a bit of other books I have read about families of women in small towns who are reknowned for their "special ways." This version of the story was particularly sweet.

Fableheaven, this book is aboout magical creatures, great adventures and the discovery of Fableheaven. Fableheaven's setting is a forest tipe area, but it's on a pice of property that is also called a reservation. A reservastion of what you ask a reservation of wiches, wizards, goblins, ect... The twist is each part of the reservaton can take you to diffrent places. For example: a secret fence that you cut threw or jump over takes you to a beach with a gizzibo and mermaids. The main characters or Seth and Kendra Swanson, are brother and sisster on the trip to there grandfathers house because theyre parents are going on a cruse. they've never seen they're grandparents. So they're not thrilled to go to there house. For all they know its going to be the best, most exciting trip of theyre lives. Kendra is a rule follower and likes to do school work and gets strait A's. Seth on the other hand likes to do the complete opposite. He likes to cause havic. He's more of the adventure some tipe while Kendra is doing exactly what she's told. They go to they're grandparents house and they see they're grandfather for the first time so it's kinda aquward. Well any way they get there and the stay is ok the have toys in they're room so it'S not have bad they get a great breakfast every mornnig. So they get playing out side and Seth notices a forest. So he asks his grandpa if he can go explore in the forest. They're grandpa says absolutly not, the forest is off limets to childrenn stay away from there. What dose Seth do he goses exploring in the forest the next day Kendra says NO!!! Grandpa told us not to go in there so Seth says, dont you want to go find out whats in there. No grandpa said stay out of there, Kendra says. Seth takes off in the forest. Kendra doese'nt want him to get hurt so she follows. When they get in there they find a path that leds more and more into the forest. While the follow the same path, they find a few more that fork out that leads back into the forest. Seth sees the forks and choices which one he wants to go on. A minute later he finds the one he likes and goes on. With Kendra just behind him, she sees where hes going so she follows. They follow this track for a while and then they spot a shed. Seth stops and says a shed in the middle of no where its got to have something cool. He gets closer to the shed and looks inside, ''out of no where a voice yells stay out of my shed''!!!! Its Madell the witch. Soon they find out there grandma has been turned into this chicken by this witch and they have to rescue they're grandpa because Seth opened a window on mid summer eve. They find out Madell has turned they're grandmother into this chicken and only Madell can turn her back into a human. They find th witch and make a proposition and say well set you free if you change our grandma back. Which that was like sighning over the world to the witch, so she said ok. They're grandma gets changed back and Madell gets set free. Fableheaven is in TROUBLE! Quotes: "FABLEHAVEN: None who enter will leave unchanged. Trespassers will be turned to stone.” -Brandon Mull writer of Fableheaven It was an emergency!" Seth blurted. "Read my lips - emergency reading - not some demented idea of fun. If I was starving, I would eat asparagus. If somebody held a gun to my head, I would watch a soap opera. And to save Fablehaven, I would read a book, okay, are you happy?" You had best be careful, Seth," Grandma warned. "The love of reading can be contagious." I just lost my appetite," he declared...” -Brandon Mull I recomend these books if you like fanticy. It is a great first read for teens. Real easy vocabulary, only 427 pages, great books. These books will leave you hanging so you have to read the other ones. The others are great to, but im not going to tell you about them because I only have to do one report ha, ha, ha,. Read them there great.

Three Cups of Tea taught me so much about Pakistan and its people, but it wasn't the easiest read. The writing was not as good as it should have been, considering it's about building schools to promote peace through education, the writing should have been exemplary. If the writing had been more sharp, clean and simply better, my daughter might have been able to get into it--high school juniors were assigned this book for summer reading and I had to help her keep moving through the book. Greg becomes a hero, and I can see why--would have been good to incorporate his negative qualities throughout the story so more people could understand him and think about emulating him. Otherwise, the story is amazing. Greg Mortenson becomes a hero because he does a hero's work...devoting himself to helping others at the expense of his own family, health, etc. It seems that's what it takes to make a difference. I've read other documents on his web site and have purchased his next book, but haven't begun that yet. Haven't made a donation to his organization, but will. I'm glad I read it!

October Guinness never imagined that after being asked to remote view a very sought after artifact, that she would be pulled into a world of intrigue, espionage and murder. Now, along with occasional CIA agent partner, Jax Alexander, they must race to unravel the clues that lead to deadly secrets and a conspiracy to destroy the world as we know it. It is an understatement to say that C.S. Graham's latest novel is fast-paced, exciting and intelligent! It takes off and never slows down. The author did a very impressive job at blending fiction and fact. The research that went into the book is fascinating. It's a wonderful read! Reviewed by Catherine Peterson for Suspense Magazine

I think this must be what I've heard called a "cosy mystery". It's set in the remote Highlands and offers Hamish McBeth, the classic country bobby, far smarter than he's thought to be. We have a cast of assorted characters, all of whom have some motive, however slight, for the murder. It's lile a palette cleanser beetween courses in a rich meal - light, airy and crisp.

This judicious biography of the humorist James Thurber is the best one, as far as I'm concerned. It is not morbid, as was the case with Burton Bernstein's THURBER, and it is not obsessively detailed, as was the case with a thousand-page book which came out about fifteen years ago.
