I had such expectations and found this book to be a let-down. Wouldn't bother

This is a wonderful resource for people who have a nookcolor or nook. However it would he better if the book was sold separately so that you could just buy the section you need plus the extras the author included about all nooks. I really enjoyed it.

This was one of the books that I can remember reading when I was in elementary school. I especially liked the story where the girl's head falls off. Well its nice to know I wasn't the only kid that liked this book.

I absolutely loved this book. The endurance of the Joad family throughout all of these trials and hardships is amazing. I wasn't ready for this story to end, wish I could know what happens to them. I also loved the alternating general descriptions of the time period and events.

Huxley's utopian complement to Brave New World.
For more reviews, check out http://vivaladolcevita14.blogspot.com/ Damn, this was a good sequel. I loved every minute of it. From the first sentence, I was pulled in, lapping up the action, romance, relationship drama, everything. I loved the story, especially since it took me through the full spectrum of emotion. The idea of Clara's purpose not being over fascinated me, and I kept trying to figure out who it was that was going to die. I was utterly intrigued the entire time, and the ending wrenched my freaking heart. Clara was fabulous in this novel. I liked how Ms. Hand showed her flaws, yet kept her likable and had me rooting/sympathizing with her. Her development was great, she really grew which I loved. She was also still herself, which I also loved. Tucker, I still adore you! He was also still excellent in this installment. I so wish he were real, so I could kiss him. I hope somehow in the final book he will have the ending he deserves. Then there's Christian, the third part of the triangle. I love how Ms. Hand did not make this love triangle a stereotypical one. Although, admittedly while learning more about Christian was cool, I wish he wasn't as prominent as he was, because I am still firmly Team Tucker, despite the course of events from the novel. Angela also got some great development, staying her awesome self. She was funny and wickedly awesome. Jeffery was not as much in the periphery again, but I still felt so bad for him. He was overlooked in favor of Clara for so long, I can understand his anger. I hope he gets a happy ending in the final book. Samjeeza still creeped the hell out of me, and I loved every minute. Ms. Hand kept up the awesome. She expanded her world well, had the characters develop well, and still has an awesome writing style. Keep it up Ms. Hand!

This book was written by a woman who survived the Bolshevik revolution, but who didn't survive the Holocaust. It includes letters to/from her editor and various friends seeking help after she was arrested in Vichy France. The book was to be in three parts, but she was only able to finish two before being dying in a concentration camp (I think it was Auschwitz). Her daughters saved the manuscript and it was only recently published. In the book (which is fiction) she portrays war (WWII, in this case) through the eyes of those experiencing it and the relationships formed as a result of it (ie villagers becoming friendly with enemy soldiers occupying their town). I liked that it didn't present war in simplistic terms (good guys vs bad) but showed the complexities as individual human beings waged or were caught in the middle of war. The author's personal history makes her observations and characterizations that much more thought provoking.

This book was dark, beautiful, and very emotional. And above all that, the concept was absolutely original and stunning. Lauren DeStefano introduces the plot and the characters to us with wonderful, vivid writing. I love the flow of the prose and how it just immediately fills my mind with images. I do have to mention, though, that I loved the book up till maybe 3/4 of it. After that, I was expecting a climax that I didn't really get. There was no heart-pounding, gut-wrenching action or emotion, just "this is what happened." It kind of let me down, after such a vivid and exquisite setup. I'll definitely read the second, though!
