AWESOME I can't believe I read this after Case for Christ. It is practically the same book, but written 30-40 years before Lee Strobel's version; only that this is so much better. It's written style isn't nearly as accessible as contemporary Christian literature, but no fear, the content is spot on the fundamentals of Christian faith, covering the authenticity and historicity of Christ, his character etc (e.g. common questions posed by non-Christians); this part I found slightly dull not because it is inherently so, but because I've read it all in Strobel's book. Alas, the best part if the 2nd part of the book (the book is divided into four sections, so i mean the 3rd and 4th section of the novel) which talks about the RESPONSE which we should give to Christ. I heavily recommend this to anyone who thinks they are Christian, or anyone who is seeking more, or wants to compare what Stott wrote to the 'nominal Christians' today. Stott summarises Christianity in succinct and intelligent language, nonetheless the material and content is accessible and meant for everyone, and no one directly challenges you as Stott does in the warm and sensitive manner which balances the passion for Christ with the theology understood from him. Excellent. It is a must-buy/must-recommend for anyone remotely related to this faith.

What a delightful read! A historical novel based on Ellen "Nell" Gwyn, an actress in London theatre and a mistress of King Charles II of England. Author Priya Parmar is a natural when it comes to conveying the surroundings with her descriptions of places, fashion, and home furnishings of the time. Parmar also has the ability to get you familiar with the characters quickly and to invest in their plights and triumphs. When Nell and friends gather at the local coffehouse to read the latest gossip columns, you feel like you're right there at the table with them. Historical events--the plague, the Great London Fire, and international politics--are covered and give the modern-day reader insight as to what people of the time faced. I'm looking forward to Ms. Parmar's next work.

It is juvenile and definitely written for kids. At times I am engaged in it, but mostly I am just reading it because I have to finish a book if I start it.

An engaging hybrid story of 1) the development and drama of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and 2) serial killer H. H. Holmes. As the fleet of architectural heavyweights designed and constructed a monument to the utopian promise of the looming 20th century, Holmes preyed upon young women arriving in a changing city that was bursting with the opportunity and risk of innovation and modernity. A fascinating read, nicely pulled together by Larson.

This is a very light read, what I call fluff reading. While I do consider it fluff, I do like the author's style and the main character's sense of humor.

Really compelling story, and I honestly could feel true anger from reading this, because it was just so intense, and horrible as to what these girls did. It brought out a lot of emotions that I usually dont experience from reading. This book was really well-written, and true. That's the number one thing about this book that made me love it so much. Courtney Summer's didn't sugar-coat anything about the reality of bullying and girls.

Call me uneducated, maybe even idiotic, but I just didn't get this book! The first 75 pages were like running in mud, I couldn't understand a darn thing and I felt rather exhausted. In the end I was left feeling like I missed the entire point of the book, or rather I wondered if there was a point. I felt like there was a lot of names thrown around and not enough background to understand why these characters were introduced in the first place. I'm profoundly stumped as to what is it I'm missing that makes this book a classic. Rather than place blame on the author or the book itself maybe when I feel like torturing myself a few years down the road I'll re-read this book and see if I can find what it is that makes this book a classic.

I really am surprised at how good this series is. I'm actually going to read the third, too!

I was extremely sad to see this series end! After investing about 2000 pages into this character, McCafferty end the series perfectly. Once again, the voice and style of writing changed for this book. It is not written in journal format but dialog, and instead of just Jessica's point of view, we also get a glimpse into Marcus's brain, which adds a whole deeper dimension to the book. I almost wish we had heard from Marcus sooner in the series.

After seeing the original film, and then the sequel, I knew I was going to have to read the book. I was quite glad that it was a short-ish novel, because it was so heavy with philosophy that otherwise it would have taken me months to read it. The story is there, and Wikipedia calls it a work of gothic horror. I’m not sure it is quite of horror status, but it certainly makes you think! Raising such problems as vanity, jealousy, making wishes at the expense of others, being an all round generally evil person, and getting away with it. It’s always a little bit harder to read a book where you have little empathy towards the main character, he is not a very nice chap at all, and so easily led! After further investigation, I think it appears I have not read or seen anything by Oscar Wilde before, so as a first introduction, Dorian Gray has made a good impression.
