Another hilarious romp from Janet Evanovich. I think I liked the characters the most (out of her romances) in this book, but not my most favorite story line. Still great fun tho!

I read this book after reading that Stephen King recommended it.He was disgusted that it hadn't been marketed better. I generally go with Uncle Stevie's recommendations on things (the one exception being the band, "Drive-By Truckers" whom I found to be unlistenable.) He was right about this book, however. It's a fictional account of an anthropologist named Martiya van der Leun and her long association with a village of Northern Thais. The incredible descriptions of the social and spiritual lives of these people and the intertwining of their lives with Martiya, which results in the murder of a local missionary is mesmerizing. I was ready to look up more about this tribe until I finished the book and found out they were totally made up. This is the author's first novel and I look forward to his next one.

In a great series, this was my favorite so far. Really fun, really funny.

The book is targetted at someone who is in the 'middle' of an organisation. Though lacking a single theme that links together all the thoughts presented in the book, it gives some very good practical suggestions to lead upwards, downwards and across.

This book outlines the author's thoery of the ideal woman from a man's point of view and suggests concrete, practical ways to improve your relationship with your husband. She clearly operates from a conservative Christian perspective, but also cites literature written by men and memoirs of men who were impressed with their wives as further support for her theory. (When I did the exercises with my husband, I did see some striking similarities between what he said and the book's theory.) I would highly recommend that women read this book and read it with patience all the way to the end. She focuses on what she recommends you do first and then, towards the end, talks about how you should ask your husband to better relate to you. Once you see the whole woman she is describing, you can then better evaluate how much you will adopt.

Unlike other Holocaust accounts, Schlink focuses on how the next generation of German youth struggle with their parents'/elders role during the Holocaust. Even if the parents did not play an active role in the systematic murder of six million Jews, the children blame their parents for remaining silent. It is in this context that Michael Berg falls in love with a woman twenty years his senior. Their passion is intense, until one day she disappears. It is only years later when he first sees her again, and learns that Hanna is guilty of horrendous crimes against Jewish women. Schlink's ability to capture Michael's morally complex love, and Hanna's mysterious life makes this story difficult to put down.

An inspiring story by two wonderfully inspiring young men. To hear them speak about their book, and their independent film, "Touching Home," please log on to www.harlotssauce.com on April 9, 2009 to hear their podcast interview with me on Harlot's Sauce Radio.
