I go back and forth on Ian McEwan but this was definitely not one of my favorites, it felt like a failed attempt to be the British Jonathan Franzen. I think I prefer his books that are more historical. Also, the whole physics thing was a bit over my head and a more solid knowledge then my "Physics in the Modern World" class in college probably would have helped. It's interesting to see how topics of global warming are entering into contemporary literature but I can't say say it was wholly successful.

Excellent systematic examination of the Christian life. It benefits from a conversational writing style and a good dose of humility on Frame's part. I can't remember any serious disagreements I had with the old codger. Yet another Theology book that improves the heart as well as the mind.

Parts by Tedd Arnold is an interesting and funny children's book. It has a very colorful full bleed cover that matches mush of the inside pages. Most of the illustrations are full color but are bordered with white along the outside of the images. The text appears within the colors above or below the images. The text also contains a sort of A B rhyme scheme that makes the book comical, easy to read and follow, and more interesting to young children. The author even mentions Dr. Seuss in his storyline, who we all know uses a rhyme shceme as well. Mayebe Tedd ARnold is a fan and models his work off of what he enjoyed to read as a child? Another interesting thing that I noticed about the book was that it has a rise to action, a climax, and a solution, but on the one page following the solution there arises another conflict that ends with a question. This could perhaps be foreshadowing for the author's next book.

I loved this book. It's an interesting, thorough, thoughtful look at what alien life might be like, with the added bonus of discussing examples from sci-fi (thus expanding my booklist :). While I disagreed with the authors sometimes, that made it all the more fun to try and poke holes in their arguments.
