If you have not yet began reading the "Ranger's Apprentice " series, it is one set of books that I would highly recommend. It is addict-ably appealing and phenomenally engaging. Every book that I have read in the series so far, has left me clamoring for the next volume. Flanagan's books are both engaging and well-paced. He excels at juggling plots and creating identifiable characters that hopelessly draw you into every story. For those who enjoy both castles and knights, battles and hard-won honor, this series does not disappoint.

As usual, Bill makes everything about Australia interesting and funny.. he pokes a bit of fun at Australia, but in the nicest possible way. You can tell that he really really likes and is amazed by Australia. There is also a lot of facts about Australia and Australians that no one really knows, or bothers to know..for example, how Australians are the only ones to carelessly 'lose' a prime minister, when he went swimming. Better than any history book - it brings out how far away Australia is, and why no one bothers about Australia - because it gives no one any trouble..A good read for self-haters who don't appreciate what a lucky country it really is!

The dialouge was difficult to keep up with at times. I found myself going backwards to determine who said what to create the current conversation I was reading. That was frustrating. The guy is a real asshole too. It received really great reviews, but kind of forgettable for me.

Another very fun Archy McNally tale. Unfortunately the last "real" McNally book. Since I've already read one of the others, I know they are a huge step down and aren't worthy of reading. I may have enjoyed this one more because I knew it was the last and it was very refreshing to return to the characters as Sanders wrote them. I can't help but wonder if he approved the books written by the other guy who distorted and twisted his characters unabashedly. Shame. These books did get a little formulaic, so I guess I see why Sanders gave them up.

This is in no way scholarly or in-depth, and you won't learn much from it, but it's awesome fun, and Gladwell's writing is interesting: he takes known facts and spins them around, plays with them, links them to others, makes you see them in a new light. And he takes you along for the ride. This book is total brain playtime. I'd recommend this to anyone who hasn't already read it. For one thing, well, almost everyone has read it, so this will give you something to talk about the next time you're trapped in a small room with strangers.
