Just a great first person account of the battle for mogidishu. I think this is a better example of soldiers in battle than "We Were Soldiers," which is always the example that people give you for that sort of thing.

I love Katie. However the way this book just jumps into "The Work" was unsetteling since I was unfamiliar w/her when I began. I do think once you "get" what it is that she is doing- she has the power to heal everyone. Her basic teaching of "The Work" can easily be incorporated into our daily lives and help us carry less resentment, hurt and anger.

This is a great novel about the healing and destructive powers of truth, both in keeping the truth hidden and in finally revealing it. It's set in the desert of Eastern Oregon next to a Native American reservation and focuses on the lives of two fathers, two daughters, and four friends. A production of Shakespeare’s Tempest is part of the story, and the author also modeled some of the narrative structures and themes on the play. By the end of the story, almost all of the secrets are revealed. I had figured them out by that point, and most people will probably have them figured out way before I did, but it’s still a good read and you’ll enjoy sorting things out and getting to know the interesting characters.

This is the only book by this man that is somewhat captivating and actually worth reading.

Started out good, but then fizzled a little because of too many characters. I like gothics because of the sense of isolation. Too many pov characters damages that. Still a pretty decent mystery, though.

Some nice lines but no coherence. Ending every line with stop, please or please advise a moderately interesting failure in form.

Many will not like this book but the logic is indisputable. In fact, that is the idea of the entire book, to bring a complex idea to it's simplicity. After you read it, you will understand that war doesn't always mean war. It could be interpersonal relationships, business or any other human encounter that you normally come in contact with. Once you read it, you will understand.

I found this book a fantastic read, the author puts right in with the action, where you see the everything up close and personnel. The book is a close up view of jungle combat through the eyes of a US Marine Officer. It shows the full brutality of combat and the boredom of waiting for something to happen.
