I love this book. I read this book from cover to cover in one sitting and just couldn't put it down. It details the life of Adeline and her need for acceptance by her Niang and her father. Their expectations of how she should live her life and her constant need for their acceptance and approval stem from her childhood where her birth was deemed a curse since her mother died after giving birth to her. Adeline struggle with this adversity and dealing with emotional abuse gives a genuine quality to the book, her prose and style of writing invites the reader in her journey and I was certainly enthralled and touched reading her book. Its a great read

I enjoyed this book quite a lot. It's greatest attribute is the perfect pacing. Although the story is told from the alternative perspective of a girl in the post-apocalyptic North America, I feel the "thunder dome fight to the death" is a theme that has been tried and done before. The most impressive thing is taking a story that has been told before and interpreting it in just the proper method to weave the greatest story. I deeply love that. I am looking forward to reading the book again to pick up on some of the details. It is a book that is read quickly because the desire is to figure out the next turn. I do wish some of the larger themes were fleshed out a bit more in the first book, but it is a young-adult novel. Very enjoyable.

I've had this book since Christmas. It was cheap, I had a gift certificate and I'm very much into Energy healing. I bought it as after thought. It is amazing. The information on chakras is well written and to the point. And the lessons on love, shielding yourself and enhancing your days are a must.
