Another good mystery by Ms Peters. Though a little bogged down with history, the characters and plot did not suffer. Definitely worth reading.

I learned from this autobiography that you can make it far in life no matter where you come from. Esmeralda Santiago is a living example.

I really liked the concept for this book, however a few things bothered me immensely. Like the quote from scripture at the start of the book, that really irritated me. All in all though, this was a really FAST read for me, it took me about a day and a half (with plenty of time to sleep and take a break to go to work for 6 hours...) The story flowed really well and I was able to breeze through without missing a beat. I liked that. There were parts I loved and parts I disliked, but you get that with any book right?

A good premise, well executed, with a solid progression of theme. Looses its way slightly towards the end, missing a lot of opportunities to finish its exploration on the nature of death and creation in reversed time: creation is quick and simple, while death is labouring. Amis could have hit home with an ending about dying through reverse birth but instead decides to explore the degeneration of conciousness in getting younger. I found this lost focus on what had been so expertly explored throughout the novel, prior to the final scene. However, despite this it is a concise, humorous and meaningful novel. Recommended.

More like a 2.5 but it seems too mean to give less than 3 stars to something I didn't dislike. It was just really insubstantial. Like an outline sketch (storyboard?) for a series with a lot of potential. Totally formula, but in a fun way. We're not exactly overwhelmed with classic pulp these days. And Fidler's colors were very nice.

i love some of the anecdotes and epigrams to wit, chosroes says, do not live in a city that lacks these five things: a strong ruler, a competent physician, a flowing river, a fixed market, a just law

Loved it! It was the perfect ending to a cute series! I wouldn't recommend it to my teenage daughter...too much talk about sex...maybe a college student...

LOL is what I did when reading this book. I've only laughed out loud when reading maybe 3 books in my whole life. And this is the number one book on that list. God, this book is hilarious. I love Bridget, I love the style the book is written in, and I love how imperfect she is and how that makes this novel so brilliant.

I read this book in preparation for my first classroom teaching gig. I think there's a lot of good info in here, although for someone like me with some ed. psych. background, it was mostly either common sense or things I'd already studied. Although I breezed through it pretty fast and skimmed or skipped sections, I expect it will be a handy reference once I get into the classroom. It will help when I run into specific problems and need to think through solutions in a methodical way.

I was obsessed with this book in high school, and I still think it's one of the funniest, most engaging pieces of writing ever by someone who has stopped caring about just about everything. Bukowski's descriptions of work in the post office is horrifying, and amusing at the same time. It made me think of all of those times postal workers have gone crazy over the years. He did work there for most of his life, which I've always found amazing.
