Much like the finest examples of it's source material, the aptly titled Amazing Adventures... is infused with such copious amounts of verve that when Chabon stumbles and overreaches, perhaps in some all to well known nerdy attempt justify these beloved funny pages and prove their worth, the fine lines and bright colors overshadow these missteps and bring the story back to it's soaring core.

Divergent had the perfect mix of action and romance, that kept my eyes glued to the pages. The world that Veronica Roth created for Divergent in futuristic Chicago was incredibly well developed; it is divided into five factions, each ruled by a trait, Bravery, Intelligence, Honesty, Selflessness, or Peacefulness. The factions were all very detailed and thought out as to how each trait would affect the lives of the people, down to the food they ate and the clothing they wore. I also enjoyed hoe Veronica Roth brought you into the life of each of the factions, their separate rules, and how she melded the attributes (honesty, bravery, selflessness, intelligence and peacefulness) into their lives in so many different and unexpected ways. I would have liked to has seen to the life in the other three factions, but hopefully we will get to see inside them in the next book! Divergent has a well thought out, fresh and interesting dystopian world. I loved, loved, loved, Divergent’s main character Tris, she was a determined and independent girl who stood for what she believed. Tris was also on of the best strong female protagonists I have seen in a long time. But Tris also faulted in the way she isolated herself from her friends, never fully opening herself up to them. I loved watching Tris’s internal fight, could she really give up all of her past self from the selfless faction in order to truly belong in the new faction or could she manage to stay true to both? I really enjoyed the questions Divergent posed, such as; what does it really mean to be brave? The chemistry between Tris and Four was simmering in every scene they were in together and there were times where I was nearly screaming at the page waiting for them to get together! Four was also a very interesting character; he was closed off and complicated but somehow also gentle and caring. The ending of Divergent totally surprised me; it was thrilling and full of twists and turns packed one after another. I really have no idea where the next book in the Divergent Trilogy will go or when it will be released but I can’t wait to read it! Divergent is the one of the best books I have read all year, one of those books that you must run out to the store and get immediately!

The Hunger Games was truly a fantastic book. It takes place in a Dystopian society and every year, there is this game called the Hunger Games. Two tributes from each district gets selected to participate in this game, and in order to win, you must kill off all the other players, making you the last one standing. Katniss Everdeen and a boy named Peeta are in the Hunger Games, and this book shows the cruelty and the fight for survival. Also, Suzanne Collins sprinkle in sparks of a love story that will soon begin. A love triangle is definitely going to occur in this trilogy and it's a great mix between action, love, and suspense. Every chapter leaves you craving for more, and it ends with a terrific cliffhanger. If you read this book, you're just gonna have to get the second book in handy.

Originally on From Book to Hooked. Review on blog: 4.5/5 stars When I had first read The Hollow, dropping half a star would have never crossed my mind. Now, after having gone over the story again to write my review, I can say there are a few minor flaws. In any case, this is an amazing love story from the debut author, Jessica Verday! While Abbey struggles to come to terms with the death of her best friend, Kristen, rumors surge that her death may not have been an accident. Then, on the day of Kristen's funeral, Abbey meets the mysterious Caspian who shows up out of no where and makes her feel special. When Abbey's just beginning to feel normal again, she discovers secrets that make her question every thing she knew about her best friend, her emerging love for Caspian, and her sanity. This story has such a unique and yet timeless plot. For one thing, the story is centered around "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," which you can read here (it's Public Domain). The Hollow also has almost a star crossed lovers thing going on, but telling you why would ruin the ending of the book. Abbey was kind of refreshing as protagonists go. She was very different, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading from her point of view. You could really feel her emotions through Verday's writing, and I loved every minute of it. Caspian is a swoon-worthy character. He's definitely got the charm down. Most of the other characters only had very minor roles. The Hollow suffers from a small case of disappearing parent syndrome, but I can't say I'm entirely complaining with this one. Kristen was mentioned, but was obviously not featured seeing as how she's no longer alive and all. Now, the reasons I only gave this book 4.5 stars. For one thing, I felt the characters didn't develop much. Even with the addition of two more books, I felt they should have developed at least a little more. Another thing that affected this book was that no questions were really answered. None of the mystery surrounding Kristen's death was really unraveled. Most of the story was focused around Caspain and Abbey's relationship, again not that I'm entirely complaining. I feel, again, though that there should have been a little more reveal, even if there are two more books in the series. The question that was answered, however, recieved a reaction similar to "HOLY HECK!" My heart went out to the characters at that moment. So, I am beyond reeled in and ready for the next book in this trilogy!

I haven't had much success reading this book; I've started it three times. The story isn't as compelling as "In Her Shoes". I did finish it but I surely don't remember it.

Especially good if you try to imagine Dylan reading it to you

Although not incredibly historically accurate, this was a fun read. I especially enjoy how Philippa Gregory writes the character of Kathryn Howard as a typical teenage girl that you might even know in the present day. Of course, Anne of Cleves is wonderful as we are taken through her change from scared foreigner to steady hand and I love getting a sense of just how crazy Jane Boleyn may have been. Really liked the layout of this story also; going back and forth between the three ladies points of views gave the story a lot of depth.

Amazing Amazing artwork. So so story ... I get it, comics are all getting gritty and Waid/Ross want us to get back to the old days when superhero's were too good to be true ... but still. But do we really need to waste Alex Ross's talent by having him draw Batman, Superman, and Wonder woman eat moons over my hammie at Denny's?

LOVED IT. I stayed up all night to finish this...couldn't put it down once I started. I absolutely adored Matt, he was so sweet and wonderful. And I really liked learning more about Aubrey too...conflicted, worried about his relationship with Matt versus duty to work and pack, but they're both totally perfect for each other. I really liked getting to see many previous characters from the other books, especially Chay and Keaton, and enjoyed the new characters as well. The plot kept me guessing until very near the end. This series in particular is very special to me because it was pretty much the first gay romance (that wasn't fan fiction, anyway) I ever read...I've re-read the 3 previous books many, many times (well, mostly book 2 and 3) and can tell I will be doing the same with this one. I think it was totally worth the wait for this great book. I got sucked right back into this world and I really think this book in the series specifically was just so romantic. I loved it from start to finish, what a great book. Now bring on Sterling and Rhys' story! :D

Zihni açmak için bir kitap, gerçeklik duygusunu kaybetmeden ... insan doğasını, felsefesini, dindarlığını keşfetmek için ... Sonunda kimse gerçeği bilmiyor. "Gerçeklik kurguyu aşar"
