"Smoke and Mirrors" is Neil Gaiman's best short story collection, in my opinion. My favorite story from the collection is "Snow, Glass, Apples", a retelling of Snow White from the point of view of the stepmother. In it, Ms. White is not all pureness and mistreated innocence. The stepmother is not an evil witch -- just a new wife trying to fit into a family that's clearly got some issues. Who's to say that this perspective is less valid than that in the original story? Well...okay, maybe Bettelheim, but regardless, I've never approached the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves the same way since reading this.

I like this simple and straight-forward book addressing emotions and how to effectively deal with them so that they are not a disruption to your life. Joyce Meyer consistent provides logical conclusions and sound advice for controlling yourself instead of being controlled by yourself. In this particular outing she focuses on how address and move beyond limiting emotions, without denying or ignoring them in your life. Joyce Meyer illustrates her points with real-life stories from her life and others, in ways that very relatable and encouraging to read and follow. The covers swveral different topics related to emotions, including fear, loss, and medical consitions. I like that this book, along with her other dealing with thoughts and other aspects of the mind, doesn't pretend that emotions don't really exist or that they are all bad, but rather addresses the thing that can most effectively conquer or build-up emotions: words. This is another one of her helpful and encouraging books. . I received this review book for free from the publisher, FaithWords. I was not required to write a positive review. A quite interesting look at life after death. I enjoyed many of the stories, but some of the stories seemed repetitive and more far fetched than others. The stories I really enjoyed were SUM, all your similar events in life all happening in at the same time. So all the time you spent driving happen at the same time, all the time you have sex will happen for 7 months straight, showering 200 days straight, and so on and so on. INEFFABLE, where all of your being breaks up after your death and go their seperate ways, but there is a deep sorrow that there is and end to being together such as an end to a great baseball team. Something larger then the whole as ended. WILL-O'-THE-WISP, is a place where you witness the world going on after you depart. Only you an expiration to that witnessing based on how you lived your life. If you lived a good life you are witness to life after death for a set amount of time and then you are not privy to witnessing what happens in order to be insulated from the pain, while sinners are punished be witnessing all that happens. This book really expands your ideas of the afterlife and gives you momement to reflect on different possibilities. A good quick read and also one to return to in the future.

i cannot tell you what a heavy influence this book had on my teenage years. you want to read this, you want to be this, and when you get old and grey, you want to pretend this is what you were up to when you were young and snotty. it's awesome.

I really enjoyed this book, especially after my last one. I found myself laughing out loud after almost every page. I loved the way it was written and really couldn't put it down. I only wished it had a better ending. The way it ended made me feel like the last couple of pages were ripped out.
