This is one book in my large collection about imposters. The book was entertaining. The author's writing style is not stilted or academic. Like many books of its kind, it is very poorly documented. In his notes the author claims that he "did not want to be a party to reporting fiction as fact, or to help to develop a mythology about women in the Civil War" and then proceeds to do exactly that. There is only a selected bibliography. There are notes in the back of the book for each chapter but, if you check the author's sources, background historical information about battles or local history come from well-researched sources but specific facts about individual women tend to come from sources even more poorly documented than this book. In his notes on Loreta Janeta Velazquez he admits that the evidence is circumstantial. He also states in the notes that when he did check primary sources he found major discrepancies.

It never reached the heights of "American Psycho" and neither did it's characters interest me as much as in "Less Than Zero." It's still a good read though.

I just finished listening to an audio recording of this book. I am listening to several of my favorite series. I actually listened to this one out of sequence. I listened to Minerva's story and then decided I wanted to be reminded of the beginning, the in-between, and the end of this saga. I still really like these stories. There is a little bit of prolonged decision making between the H/H, but I skipped through some of it. I think you will like each of the Hellions of Halstead Hall. Recommended!

This has a very level-headed, practical tone to it. It's filled with lots of good information about choosing a preschool, preparing your child for school, etc. And at the end of every chapter is a list of recommended children's books.

This is easily my most favorite book of all time. J.R.R. Tolkien created a world that captivated my teenage and early young adult years as I invested time reading the book following the release of first movie. I completely immersed myself for several years into getting to know the book better as I wrote fanfiction based around it rather than the movie and formed many friendships due to a mutual love. Thank you, Tolkien, for many years of enjoyment from your masterpiece.
