I like books with a fantastical element. I don't care if they are called 'Paranormal Romance', 'Occult thriller', or even just plain ole 'Fantasy. I saw this book by Margaret Weiss and I though 'Hey! I liked the Dragonlance stuff back in the day . . It might be good!'. Here's the thing, you can have a fantastic element (in this case an angel), but its going to get a little boring if the entire point is that he can't use his freakin' powers!!!! ANyway, it was well written, but disappointing

The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray. That is the one lesson that I still remember to this day. Live for the moment! The tragic story of the complex bond between two migrant laborers in Central California. They are George Milton and Lennie Small, itinerant ranch hands who dream of one day owning a small farm. George acts as a father figure to Lennie, who is a very large, simpleminded man, calming him and helping to reign in his immense physical strength. Lennie was adorable always asking George to pet the rabbits. I almost cried when Lennie pet the rabbit to hard and killed it. AWESOME read. totally worth it.

This was by far my least favorite of the Sookie Books. I'm sad I didn't get into it. And as much as Eric was my favorite character thus far, I wanted her to get back with Bill after this book. Or better, I'd like to see her with Alcide. He seems to be willing to go further to be with her than the rest. I'm not sure what this book was lacking that made me like it less than the rest. But it didn't make me feel anything, which is what makes me love a book or not. Maybe it was the build up of anticipation of waiting so long for it. Certainly could have been better. Now I'm scared to watch the new season of True Blood. I hope it doesn't suck!

I thought this was a great story of an mother trying to raise her daughter in a small Indian village, told through the eyes of both children and adults, through both flashbacks and flash forwards. It is a bit difficult to get into her writing style, but once you get a hold of it, you find yourself absolutely intertwined in the tragedies that each of the characters experience throughout the book.
