Anne Rice's historical fictions are brilliant. I adore her version of Vampires but her true brillance is best seen in this, and FEAST OF ALL SAINTS, both great reads.

This book is like The Davinci Code on crack. Its a psychological thriller/mystery/exploration of spiritual history. It is an awesome book that will take you through centuries of secret societies and crazy rituals. A must read.

I rated this book prematurely because I did like the beginning. But then I got past the beginning and it all went down hill. Some sentences really spoke to me and were important to the plot (if you could call it that) and then other times, probably the majority at the end, I was just like WTF is this! This is just pure babble that I don't understand. Maybe if I would have cared a little bit more, but I just didn't. I think I read on the back of the book that she revolutionized literature with her writing, which I can completely see and I can see how important it is, but I don't even know. uggh.
This is a fascinating book. I worked at a McDonalds for three years, so I found this book interesting then some might who have never worked in the delightful field that is fast food.

This may be the day dreamer's handbook and a road map for anyone who has ever grown up and felt the world shift through the eyes of another. This is beat writing at its best, but there's no politics and spirituality; there's satisfaction in that mystifying poetry of love's unmeasurable angle. Maggie Cassidy draws you in with an enticing narrative frame that clicks the zoom lens down to Zagg's formative years in a lucid dream. It's one that I personally recognised - being amongst the fog while emerging into life - whatever that means. I've fallen for girls like Maggie (I suspect a lot of others have too) and throughout this tale there are many moments of recognition. The boy grows up while the girl keeps her head in the clouds. It's tragic - it's beautiful - it's poetic - it's real. With elegance Kerouac has documented the flow of infatuation with a masterful hand. He once again creates vast landscapes with words that are noisy, silent, colourful, bleak and visceral. A must read for any Kerouac fan.

I loved this book because it talks about how love is never ugly, it is a modern version of Beauty and the Beast but, in this book the author explains everything from the beast point of view. It is really interesting and i couldn't stop reading it.

I have said elsewhere that I was 16 years old when Carrie was published, but I was actually 14. I know that I immediately identified with the high school cliques, including the mean popular jocks and the picked on girl. We had a girl like that in our school and I am ashamed to admit that I never stood up for her even though I felt sorry for her. Stephen's first and maybe best. Thanks to his wife Tabitha for pulling it out of the garbage!
