Picked this up and easily finished it on my flight to the freedom of spring break. A rather unconventional love story, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I'm not much for sappy romance novels, so the twists and turns of this novel kept my attention and actually had me rooting for the protagonist.

I have read nearly all of Grace Livingston Hill's books, and this is one of my favorites! It includes a family loving each other through hard (tragic) times, generous giving and while the main love in the story is that of the family, it does include a little romance as well. Perhaps not very realistic, but this is what I call a "Cinderella story" ... sort of a fairy tale that ends happily ever after. Another re-read, and I loved this book all over again! It's great to be back to reading some of my old favorites!

I thought this book was great. Be sure to read The Giver and then Gathering Blue in that order before reading Messenger. This book ties together the characters from the first 2 and has a great ending.

Jackson and Milla- what a great couple. Not sure how you can lose weight when involved in a wedding. LOVE cake, actually I love food in general. Another great story.

I never liked Thor was when I was a youth, but I saw Straczynski's name on this, liked what he had done with Spider-Man, and read some good things on this. So, what the heck, I'll give it a try. What I got here were 6 issues that all read like prologues for things to come but were never resolved. Each issue would have a plot that was a bit of "this is going to have to tide you over until next month's issue..." However, nothing ever got re-visited. And Thor's personality is so devoid of anything remotely interesting that there's no point in picking up the second volume to find out what happens. On the plus side, the artwork was solid.

I love Martha Beck since I read Finding Your True North Star. This book gave me wonderful added insights about how to lose weight and stay thin forever! Understanding the interplay between my Dictator, Wild Child (synonymous with our inborn primitive drive to stay alive in times of LACK-ATTACK) and the Watcher who sends them both Compassion, Understanding and Love - make for a Zen of Dieting kind of read which I appreciate. It throws light on the emotional hunger side of dieting and I for one am really applying the dedication to NON-EDIBLE nurturing treats for myself. Ultimately the books's gift is in the title - understanding that doing anything for FOUR DAYS makes changing habits and re-programming the brain for change into a permanent way of peaceful living and thinner eating.

"It's about time!" your all probably saying, am I right? I know, I have raved about this book, its about time I write my review. But the thing is, I don't know if I can do it justice or not. I mean I loved this book so much, I want to get across how great it was. I'm trying to hold back my Oh-My-Squee of joy here, I promise I will try my best not to go all fan girl on you! We follow Gabi as she gets thrown back in time to the fourteenth century. The author wastes no time in getting us to the interesting parts. That's right. She ends up right in the middle of a battle with her sister Lia no where to be found. Scary right? Does she break down? Uh, no. Gabi throughout the book even when she makes a few face-palming mistakes, always stuck up for herself and was a kick-butt herione! SHE ACTUALLY HAD A BRAIN! Gosh, I know it was amazing! I was like, "Yeah, go Gabs!" Her sister Lia was quite the character too, she is pretty tough! I wouldn't have the guts to do the things she did. Even though some things are hard to believe I didn't care because I was so absorbed in the story. Now those were the girls, how about these Italian hotties? Like a fellow reviewer said, that word is plural, people! Plural!! Meaning more than one hottie in the mix! I loved these guys (except for the bad ones of course), I mean can they get any more manly? Lisa really knows how to create em, plus they are so respectful of Gabi. Marcello and Luca captured my heart. Both are so swoon worthy, its incredible! This book definitely packs some great romance in there! For romance lovers like me, this is the book for you! The plot and setting no doubt reeled me in. I am a sucker for time travel, and to Italy? Yes, please! The historical elements were expertly done and not to mention engaging. I was so wrapped up in the story I had 14th century on my brain for days! This book is mentioned as Christian fiction but to tell you the truth it had only a few lines regarding God. The descriptions were so vivid, the characters so in depth, the romance so heart pounding, and the plot so engaging, how could I not love this book? I highly recommend this book to those who love romance, time travel, suspense, adventure and much more! I cannot wait to read Cascade! Lisa Bergren you rock!
