This was my favorite of Valentine's series. It comes the closest to being a Catholic Mitford (Jan Karon) or Thrush Green (Miss Read), as I originally hoped these books would be. John MacDonough's narration adds to the charm, since he narrated Jan Karon's series.

all harlen coben books are fun - they are mysteries that take place in new jersey so you read about nyc and route 17 and 4 and the GW bridge. many of them feature the same people, but you don't have to read them in sequence. they are a fun read.

Sinceramente creo que el final es extremadamente triste. El libro es estupendo pero su final agridulce, aunque también hay que decir que la guerra deja cicatrices y, por lo tanto, las cosas no han acabado tan mal. Me costará volver a leérmeslos porque, restando el primero, cuestan de leer por su trama más… dura. Lo peor es que tampoco creo que ese mundo sea tan diferente del actual en el que vivimos.

Over the span of several years Baby's character develops on various backdrops, from public schools to juvenile detention centres to life as a prostitute. The characters are compellingly written and Baby's development from a small girl into a young woman is satisfyingly realized.
