I'm not a comic book fan nor a history buff, yet I loved Chabon's take on the convergence of the Holocaust and the inception of the comic book industry. There are about a hundred pages in the middle of the book one can skip without missing a thing, plot-wise (when the protagonist finds himself stuck in the snow)... but otherwise an amazing read.

Not scary, not thrilling, but really, really interesting. This book exposed me to parts of the world and history that I probably learned about in 10th grade and never really thought about again Now I find myself wanting to read more about medieval history, travel to Istanbul, and become a respected scholar in some field!

I didn't get bored to the point of having to stop reading, which is rare, but it wasn't awesome. I'm curious about the movie. I usually don't think that movies do a book justice, but I have a feeling this movie is probably better than the book.

I really really wanted to like this book. I even reread P&P just before I started it to get the full effect. Unfortunately I couldn't get past the first couple chapters. Very clunky.

I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. The subject caught me off guard and I think it made me not enjoy it as much. Plus the fact that it took place in the dead of winter in Wisconsin (burrrr). There were some odd twists and some parts that were difficult to read (how can she be doing that???). But at least the ending wrapped things up nicely and didn't piss me off.

Ishiguro writes incredibly well-crafted prose: ostensibly straightforward and easy-to-read, and yet loaded with meaning and nuance. Although there is a "mystery" about the world Ishiguro has crafted in Never Let Me Go, it's almost the sheer mundane ordinariness of the young characters' childhood and young adulthood that is the most chilling. It's a little bit of the "uncanny valley" effect in prose rather than film -- everything *seems* normal, and yet...not quite. Even when you come to understand the twist of the novel, it doesn't lose its suspense, for you desperately want to know if there's a way out for these characters. I hesitate to call it a thriller, for it's far too slow-paced for that, but it's hard not to root for Ishiguro's narrator, and his alternate-reality future is just plausible enough, just close enough to reality, that it's a stunning cautionary tale about the value of a well-lived life.

The book is a page turner =) quite interesting and beautiful and not very good as you would expect .Yet,i could not put it down. a very thrilling events , the plot is very easy and subtle.Actually , Angles fall was a special add to my bookshelf and of course stop reading this review and go read it
