I never thought I'd read about Paris from a cowboy's perspective -- but the author stayed in an apartment around the corner from my old Paris apartment when working on the book (per the jacket cover), so I picked it up. Now, I doubt me and Rowdy have a lot in common - but we sure seem to hit a lot of the same spots (except I've never quite enjoyed the Catacombs the same as is). A good tale, good humor writing, enjoyable read.

This was beautifully written novella. I felt that it was both disturbing and so different that what I'm used to reading and expecting from stories like these. It did not make me feel good while reading it, but it made me feel something strange.

Oh, creepy Mr. Durbin. Not only are the books in the Wake Trilogy great, but also really easy reads. I finished Fade in a day and a half, plus I'm already halfway finished with Gone. I love Janie and Cabel. They are adorable together. :)

this book was amazing the author had a great imagination. the book is a bout this girl name luce she has been reincarnated over the centries. then the man she loves ends up being an fallen angel and over these centries adn every time they always end up falling in love. then in the end it ends tragicaly she ends up disappering from his life till the next centrey. however if she dies this dime she will never return and be gon forevery so luce and her lover danial and the other angels must find a way to save her.

This series absolutely dominated my middle and high school years. Ever since the librarian in middle school introduced me to Redwall, it has held a special place in my heart. The stories of mice and otters struggling for justice and peace may seem silly to those who haven't grown up with Martin the Warrior and company, but these are absolutely charming tales, cut to the cloth of Arthurian legend (I just realized that now how similar they are) that I wish everyone had the chance to experience. Unlike Harry Potter, this is not a series that grows with the reader, but even older teens will enjoy the plain ol' good fun that is Redwall.

La seconde partie est un ensemble d'extraits de textes d'auteurs, tels que Aratos et Geminos pour l'astronomie, Strabon et Ptolémée pour la géographie, Pline et Lucrèce sur les phénomènes naturels, Hérodote, Thucydide, Polybe sur la politique, Démosthène, Lysias, Hypéride, Xénophon, Photius et Diodore sur l'exploitation et la mise en valeurs des ressources naturelles, et d'autres de Platon, Cicéron, Vitruve et Philostrate. J'ai été ravi de découvrir des auteurs que je ne connaissais pas, et je suis resté admiratif devant l'industrie et la sagacité des anciens, concernant l'étude du ciel et de la terre. Les sphères armillaires sont une merveilleuse invention. Les textes relatifs à l'exploitation des mines et carrières, l'utilisation du bitume, l'organisation du travail, l'activité bancaire, étaient en majorité nouveaux pour moi et très intéressants. Ceux relatifs à la politique m'étaient plus familiers, mais on y revient toujours avec plaisir. En somme, cette introduction remplit parfaitement son rôle, à savoir ouvrir des perspectives nouvelles à qui veut approfondir les savoirs antiques, en présentant un bon ensemble de textes et d'auteurs.
