Could not even finish reading this book. The story started out well, had a good plot but became so ridiculous I felt silly just reading it. Not enjoyable at all.

This book was hard to get into. Maybe that was because in the back of my mind I kept thinking it was a foreign book. After I finally got into the book I couldn't put it down. Lisbeth is a kick ass chick wth lots of issues. This book is so worth the read and I highly recommend it!!

Only skimmed this book, and decided it was too biased in favor of vaccines. I'm looking for a more neutral perspective. However, this book seems like it would be useful for educating oneself about the issue, particularly if one had already come down on the same side as they do.

I really struggled between 2 and 3 stars. I can't deny the beautiful passages that pepper the book, I can't deny the first line as my most favorite first line possibly ever. But I question the fervor that seems to surround this book. I was bored too many times to count. Wanting to skip pages, give up, read the cliff notes...but I kept going. And I really don't know that I made the right decision. How frustrating to read a book you've heard is grand, only to be disappointed!

** spoiler alert ** This is one of those books that I want to rate lower because some of the things that happened upset me so much. Harry loses his office, his apartment, and his brother has become a different person. Watching his life fall apart was awful, and the ending was almost too much. I'm not sure what the series will be like going forward. I really enjoyed the books that were more isolated cases, and I'm not sure how I feel about the over-arching storyline becoming the MAIN storyline the way it has been. I hope that Butcher continues to introduce new characters and do unique things. I just have a feeling that this is the point where the series jumps the shark. I tore through the book though, it's as action-packed as always. Plenty of conflict on several levels, and lots of conspiracies and behind-closed-door conversations. I liked the idea of meeting some of the gods, but they didn't really become involved. I found the Tolkein references grating and kind of banged into my head (I get it, yes, you're very clever), and I get annoyed every time I read the Authors Note shilling for Butcher's fantasy series. So maybe I'm a sucker, but I'll keep reading these and hope that the series doesn't tank.
