An intriguing format - the reader is basically inside the brain of the main character so that everything is from his viewpoint and only his viewpoint. It does capture thinking/life style since 9/11, at least that of a successful, white, male, British doctor. For the most part it was entertaining and successful in its approach.

This entire book is just poetic pornography. Beautifully written poetry, but pornographic none the less. It gives a very...tasteful window in to the world of mideival slavery and princes and princesses. I would only reccomend this book to people with a strong stomach and perhaps a bit of a warped mindset.

This was a fun, quick read that I enjoyed. This is a good "brain-candy" book. I will read at least the next book. I really liked the character of David and I hope he gets developed more. The hero-Tally-was not someone I particularly enjoyed however. Perhaps she just wasn't developed enough. I did like her personal struggles coming to grips with the truth she had been denied throughout her whole life. When a whole world of new thought is opened up to a person that's an amazing process. I enjoy futuristic books, it gives me pause to think about our current society. There are a lot of good lessons for you to gleam from it, however there are some not so good ones as well. I'm having a hard time understanding why any of these books are teen-lit. This one, while much tamer in morals than other teen-lit books, was still over the edge for me. Meaning, why are we letting our youth read these books???? There was also a naturalists agenda being pushed by the author. If a youth reads this I believe it should be discussed with a parent... I also found this book so choppy! The story didn't flow smoothly is some parts. I feel like I read the last version before the editor got a hold of it. I still enjoyed it though and the concepts are worth exploring with others. Much to talk about.

I read 2 different versions of the bible, the king James and some other version. I learned more relevant lessons from the brothers Grimm and the stories were more entertaining.

On one hand this book was fascinating. I had never thought about novels in this light, but I had no emotional connection to the author or her students. It took me a long time to read the book because of that lack of connection.
